4.0 out of 5 stars Thor - 'Triumphant' (Scratch), Sep 21 2008
By

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Triumphant (Audio CD)
Think I might like this CD a bit more than I did his 'Thor Against The World' CD (see my review). So, what is this a concept album? Something about Norway floating away then being destroyed by a massive collision with North America. Either way, 'Triumphant' is a rather good effort. Yes, it's more cheesy metal than anything else but I thought Thor pulled it off well. Tracks I dug the most were "Viking's Funeral", "Thunderhawk" and "The Guardian's Flame". Recommended for fans of Spinal Tap, Manowar, Gwar, Raven and possibly Danzig. Real all American he-man metal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Muscle Rock Rulz!!, Jan 3 2007
By J. Mccormack - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Triumphant (Audio CD)
Wow, wow, WOW! Thor is BACK! I have been a fan of this muscle rock master since laying my hand on the "Unchained" vinyl way back in 1983. Thor has stuck it out and has given us many great songs throughout the decades, but there are flashes of true brilliance on this release, unlike anything since in many years from him (and it only gets better when you grab 2005's Thor Against the World and 2006's Devastation of Musculation). Released in 2001, then reissued with new artwork and many bonus tracks/videos, the 2003 reissue is just fantastic. This Cd contains a variety of styles and flavors, including some visits to past tunes, (some of my favorites) like "Thunder on the Tundra." Call of the Triumphant is amazing, as is Intercessor and others. Thor has a style you either love or hate (it seems from other reviewers of his stuff). If you love classic rock/metal/theatrical rock, you should really enjoy this. I love it!
