Chef Ava Santori's world falls apart after she finds out her estranged younger brother, Marco, has been lost at sea. When the ambulance-chasing attorney who's setting up a class action suit against the cruise line hints that gross negligence caused the "accident," Ava decides to go to St. Barts and do a little investigating herself. Dane Erikson, owner of the cruise line and target of the lawsuit, is devastated by the loss of his crew, especially his friend Marco. Ava sets out determined to hate Dane, but the longer she's with him, the more unlikely it seems that he had anything to do with her brother's death. Eventually the two of them join forces to find out exactly what happened to the doomed ship. As their admiration, and, eventually, love, grow, so does the magnitude of the perils they face. Romance, danger, and adventure on the high seas in just the right combination makes St. Claire's debut a very impressive one. Shelley Mosley

The grieving family wants to move past the incident. However, lawyer Grayson Boyd persuades Ana to come to the Caribbean Island of St. Bart to sue the ship's owner Dane Erikson who stands to make millions on the disaster. Ana believes the avaricious Dane caused Marco's death. Dane believes Ana failed to act like a sister to his best friend. Both wants to hate the other, but neither can ignore the growing love towards one another even while danger mounts from an illegal operation.
Though the continual misunderstanding between the lead protagonists seems difficult to accept especially midway into the novel, readers will enjoy this romantic suspense. The action focuses on the lead couple's misconceptions before twisting into an intrigue. The plot is at its finest when Dane and Ana argue over Marco while falling in love. The intrigue adds excitement, but detours the story line from its roots. Still the audience will appreciate Roxanne St. Claire's tale.
Tropical Getaway's pace is blistering and riddled with twists from the belly of the boat to beautiful St. Bart's. But above all, it is a beautiful story of lovers meant to be together in spite of the storms at sea.
This is a remarkably well-written story with all the elements that keep you hooked.
I want to head for the Caribbean, I want to meet them, I want to find Dane! I want to read more of this new author.
Dane Erikson is the owner of the luxurious Utopia Adventures cruise line, and challenges Ava to help discover what went wrong with the doomed ship, rather than side with the scum ball attorney. Ava blames Dane for wanting to cash in on millions off this disaster, and also for sending the doomed "Paradisio" into the eye of the storm. Dane blames Ava for not being a good sister to Marco, and cannot understand why she never got in touch with him for 5 years. The continual misunderstandings between these two finally turns into a mutual concern to put the past behind them, and work together to solve the mystery of the doomed ship.
What happens along the way is awesome. Dane is one of the most engaging heroes ever, and when he and Ava finally get together, the sensual fireworks ignite. There are many twists and turns in the plot that will keep you guessing right up to the end. The author takes the time to bring this entire story to conclusion, and leaves nothing out. When most books would have ended, the publisher generously commits enough pages to bring everything to closure. This book has it all - Kudos to this wonderful new author!
