I prefer plastic bowls for baking; I've just never liked the clink of mixer beaters against glass or metal, and I find plastic to be more practical. I had an old set of four white plastic bowls that I liked very much, but over the years, they had gotten very dingy-looking. Furthermore, since I purchased them so long ago, I became concerned that they were probably not rated for the microwave and not BPA free. So, I searched EVERYWHERE for a replacement set of bowls. I found a beautiful Michael Graves set at Target, and I also liked this OXO Good Grips 3-Piece Mixing Bowl Set, but in both cases, the bowls were dishwasher safe only, NOT microwave safe.
Finally, I came across this Trudeau set, and I was thrilled to discover that they were microwave safe! Although it was a set of 3, not 4, the sizes seems like they would work for me (I never used the largest bowl in my old set anyway). I recently received the bowls and have already used them for baking--they are perfect! The outside of the bowls are black with white flecks, which looks great with my new countertops, while the inside is a smooth, solid black. The bowls have a nice edge for holding on side plus a pouring spout on the other (something my old bowls did not have). Another great feature is that the bowls have rubber grips on the bottom, so they do not slide around on the counter at all.
So far, these bowls have been an excellent purchase for me, and I would highly recommend them!
