Book Description

Jun 1 2000
The incredible story of a young woman who spoke up for the unborn and found herself in the national spotlight. As this desperate battle continues to rage, God has placed at its epicenter the most unlikely of persons: Janet Folger who used to be afraid to speak, period - let alone to speak out on abortion. But there she was as a young single woman fighting for and winning passage of the nation's first ban on partial-birth abortion. In the midst of making you laugh, Janet energizes you with renewed hope and a creative action plan for success in the human rights movement of our time.

5.0 out of 5 stars True to Life is Awesome! Mar 13 2004
Format:Paperback
Janet Folger's book "True to Life" is by far the best book I have ever read on the political scene surrounding the Life Issues. The book is written extremely well: It is interesting, easy to read, thought provoking, informative, humorous in spots, and enlightening...all at the same time. True to Life not only challenges our involvement into the Life Issues arena, but our living of the Gospels as well. Unfortunately, I don't have time to read like I used to, but the time I spent reading this was well worth every minute. I highly recommend!

2.0 out of 5 stars A Study in Self-rightousness Dec 13 2012
By Melanie Z. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this author to be very self-righteous, and her homophobia really turned me off. I think she is one of those people who opposes gay rights because she feels she knows best - she can't grasp the concept that some people could be happy in same-sex relationships and assumes that they have to be miserable because that is what her God is against. And how could anyone be happy if they're against God? Therefore, she creates in her own mind a stereotype of gay people as needing to be rescued from their own "sin." Very offensive. At one point, she compared giving condoms to teenagers to giving clean needles to them so that they can do drugs - which makes me wonder why she feels that premarital sex is as destructive to a person as mainlining heroin - it doesn't seem like a very healthy attitude towards sexuality. She seemed to really want to enforce her beliefs on everyone, regardless of the fact that most people in this country are not Christian conservatives. I agree with her on abortion, but not on anything else. It was interesting to learn a little bit about how lobbying people in Washington is done. I don't think the author is a bad person, just self-righteous and misguided.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Life Being Given For Many Jun 19 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The fact that Jan Folger (who has the gift of not taking herself too seriously) finds it amazing that she has met famous people and has helped to form public policy, does not take away from the gravity of her reflections on the reality of the tragedy of abortion for our society, especially for those closest to the human destruction. Although the story is told through individual stories and recollections, it helps us to understand the motivation of one of the most dedicated and effective advocates for the rights of unborn children. Anyone who wants to truly understand the abortion debate, and those actively involved in it,needs to read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let the little children come unto me... Jan 27 2002
By Men'sRightsActivist - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This well written book is as much an autobiography of a very brave and kind hearted person as it is a story of the circumstances surrounding the pro-life vs. pro-choice drama that is ongoing in America today. Through the experiences of this dedicated pro-life advocate we see an exemplary integrity that underscores a deep love for all humanity. The unborn, women and girls struggling with an unwanted pregnancy, and even pro-choice advocates are all treated with decency and respect in this book. If you want to know more about one of the greatest role models ever for the pro-life movement then look no further than this book. Janet and her millions of followers belie the negative stereotypes that the biased, left leaning media tries to hang on all pro-life people. To get the true flavor of the tactics and methodologies of one of the most powerful people in the pro-life movement you need look no further than this book. To discover all the choices for life for the unborn, that are sadly not emphasized in the pro-choice agenda, read this book. The abortion industry, a business dying from its own success, hopes you won't read this book, lest it loose even more customers. I enjoyed immensly reading this positive, thought provoking, and very uplifting book that is as its title promises, "True to Life."
