Review

"A fine introduction of Battison's popular DCI Ashworth to the A & B crime list." -- Publishing News --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From AudioFile

British actor Terry Wale's somber rendering of this dark mystery adds to the tone of the story. DCI Jim Ashworth and his colleagues are on the case when a body is found in the home of antiques dealer Reginald Carter. Although Carter is initially a suspect, he soon ends up dead, and the trail becomes even more complicated. Wale portrays DCI Ashworth in a fatherly manner as he tries to put together the pieces of the puzzle while at the same time assisting the younger sergeants with their personal struggles. Wale's portrayal of Holly Bedford, the high-strung officer with a very short fuse, accentuates his range in narration. Although Wale's performance is flawless, the presence of continual tape hiss detracts.
