5.0 out of 5 stars Highly anticipated OST! Oct 3 2010
By ChaChaRDH - Published on Amazon.com

I had been waiting a long time for this soundtrack to come out, and I was beginning to think that the composer wasn't going to release it so I was very excited to hear about it's release date and bought it immediately. The best part of the score is Jane Seymour's themes and any derivations of it. That was the whole reason I wanted the soundtrack because Jane Seymour's death mass ("A Howling Wilderness/Jane Seymour's Death") was so moving in the series, I just wanted to listen to it over and over again. My second favorite track is "For Thine is the Kingdom, Power and the Glory" which is the longest track on the album. It's kind of a dark, semi-somber tone but yet moving with the flute melody. If you enjoy The Tudor's series, this is a must have! Definitely different from the previous two soundtrack because there is more choral accompaniment, which makes the music sound heavenly :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Morris' Third Season Is More Developed & Emotionally Arresting Sep 14 2010
By Kaya Savas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The Tudors so far as been Trevor Morris' most accomplished work to date. A modern scoring approach that still manages to create a timelessness and paint a romantic view on one of the most iconic figures in history. With season 3 the music becomes more elegant, more mature and even more heavily grounded thematically. All in all representing every aspect of Henry VIII's character as he also becomes more mature and heavily grounded.

Morris has crafted something very wonderful this season with the introduction of the Jane Seymour character. The album opens with a barebones piano arrangement of the theme. A hollow echo that starts us off on our journey. Her theme in a sense becomes the central theme of the season. It carries such a presence of beauty and majesty. It's romantic yet carries a hint of tragic foreshadowing. He is able to tweak the theme throughout the score to convey slightly different emotions. "A Howling Wilderness/The Death Of Jane Seymour" is such a painfully beautiful track that echoes lost love. When the choir comes into full fruition I dare you to try and hold back the tears.

As the score moves along the music takes a more masculine shift back to a slightly similar style of the past seasons. At times we have that heavy modern style of Morris while the quieter tracks echo bubbling tension. By the end we are left with a hint of intrigue as to what's to come. With the 4th season's score release already announced it won't be long till we can get our hands on Morris' conclusion to The Tudors. In fact with only 2 months between the two album releases this is actually incredibly rare. Looking back at Morris' work the past 3 seasons I can honestly say after being able to listen through them all that I find season 3 the most emotionally arresting. It shows a growth in the character of Henry VIII and an incredible evolution in the soundscape of The Tudors universe.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good music Mar 5 2013

Good music - from a great show, and I've enjoyed it. If one puts all the music CDs together (MP3s, in my case), you've got a very good "listen" for your collection!
