Tuskegee (Deluxe Edition) comes in 2 discs: a CD with 13 songs and a DVD, featuring the making of this record. Tuskegee is the tenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Lionel Richie. The album bears the name of the Alabaman city where he was born and where he later completed his undergraduate degree at Tuskegee Institute.

This album contains Lionel's biggest hits recorded with today's hottest country artists (Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Billy Currington, Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland and Rascal Flatts) and legends (Kenny Rogers, Shania Twain, Jimmy Buffett and Willie Nelson). What a clever idea. The end result is a totally refreshing sound and interpretation of Lionel's biggest hits. I particularly enjoyed "Endless Love" with the still beautiful Shania Twain, "Hello" with Jennifer Nettles, with her new interpretation and "You Are" with Blake Shelton, who openly expressed his love for Lionel and requested a big hug....

This is one of the best CD I have bought in a few years. Lionel Ritchie and friends do a great job. I had forgotten how good Lionel Ritchie really is. You can tell he has a real raport with his guests on this cd To listen to lionel and Willie Nelson is a real trat. They both have longgevity. It is great to hear some of Lionel Ritchies oldies but goodies.

Lionel has not lost his talent. This CD is a fine blend of country and his own genre. I've always like Richie's music and some country and the blend of the two is a pleasure to the ear. The DVD is also interesting as it gives some insight to how the music was create.

I must say i was a little disappointed because i was under the impression that this dvd contained video's of the duets... i was looking forward to seeing it but now i'm not so sure... i think they need to be a little more clearer of what your getting on the dvd... in my opinion this deluxe edition was a little misleading...

With this album, I've rediscovered Lionel Richie... And I love IT!! :D The duets are really good; The voices are well matched and the harmonies are perfect.
The Country twist makes some of the songs even better! A must have!

Over the recent years, many veteran artists have been re-recording their older hits, from Carly Simon to Suzanne Vega. You can now add Lionel Richie's name to the list; "Tuskegee" finds him covering thirteen of his biggest hits (whether as a solo artist or as part of The Commodores) with more than a little help from a handful of country superstars, all of which duet with him on these songs. While this process is obviously a safe way to cash in on his established repertoire, it actually works very well... for the most part. Songs like "Stuck On You", "Sail On", "My Love", "Lady" and "Deep River Woman" already had some twang (and charted accordingly in the 80s), so the new versions stay rather close to the originals; they are, however, beautiful reworkings of these timeless classics. "Just For You" and the uplifting "You Are" both get a more audible country twist, and while Shania Twain's cameo on "Endless Love" won't eclipse Diana Ross' original performance, she provides a refreshing country edge to this beautiful love song. Richie's own voice has survived the test of time, and he manages to remain the star of the album in spite of all the high-profile collaborators that he surrounds himself with. It's a true joy to hear him revisit these songs, and to witness them coming to life again.

Not everything is as inspired, however. After all, when you're covering yourself, comparisons are inevitable... and sometimes the classics are better off left alone. Purists will be quick to point out that this is a diluted form of country music, and will be proven right; after all, you'll have a tough time finding anything remotely country in the new versions of mega-hits such as "Dancing on the ceiling" or "All night long".
