Orson Wells presents the items from the 1st Tutankhamun exhibit which came to the USA. The camera's were able to get close ups of many objects and show things most people who saw the exhibit would not have seen. At some points Wells' commentary may have been a bit overly dramatic for some people but I think it adds to the charm of the video. The video treats the viewers as if they are intelligent. Something you rarely see in videos by certain companies nowadays. It is a thoroughly enjoyable dvd and I recommend it highly. I originally purchased this on vhs and have been looking for the dvd for several years. My only wish was for it to be longer so we could see more of the fantastic items from Tut's tomb.

"Tut: The Boy King" is the best documentary I have ever seen related with Howard Carter's discovery of Tut's tomb in 1922. We get really good looks at artifacts and Orson Welles gives some great dialogue. I was so impressed by how interesting this film is. We are told Tut's story while we watch some of the incredibly crafted stuff found inside his final resting place. The music in here is also very well done. Few documentaries are this interesting and good. I've seen it dozens of times and never get bored. As a film critic, I admire it.

Good documentary, but... Aug. 26 2005
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
This 1978 TV production gives an overview of the exhibition of treasures from the young pharao's tomb that was on a world tour at the time. The treasures are as impressive now as they were then. The picture quality, however, is no better than VHS. No attempt at restauration or enhancement seems to have been made. Even if your interest in King Tut is high you should think before buying.

if you saw this on tv. you will remeber mr. welle's great voice...he really makes the young king live again. he tells you about the king, you are there as they show pictures of the descovery of the tomb. pictures of how each item looked like in the tomb, then today. if you where lucky enough to see these treasures that toured our country, which l was. it is a real joy to see them here again and take your time over each one. bar none he explains every one as it comes almost alive. order this and just enjoy, as tut lives again.
