Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

The mixture of slapstick and gunplay that has put Evanovich's series about a sassy, less than competent New Jersey bounty hunter at the top of bestseller lists once again works its magic in Stephanie Plum's latest caper (after 2005's Eleven on Top). Stephanie, who freely admits her failings as a hunter of fugitives, faces a growing work backlog that threatens the continued existence of her job. Her clumsy efforts to clear some cases, along with the help of her outrageous colleague, Lula, result only in their adding another sad sack to the office payroll—a forlorn shoe salesman who's talked off a ledge by Stephanie's offer of a position as file clerk. Stephanie's ambivalence toward the two men in her life becomes harder to maintain when one of them, the mysterious Ranger, is accused of kidnapping his own daughter. Countless over-the-top scenes, including one at a funeral parlor, will delight longtime fans.

From AudioFile

In the twelfth in the Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, series--Plum is tracking a killer who has kidnapped the daughter of her mentor and sometimes lover, Ranger. Lorelei King once again displays her impeccable versatility as she portrays a dozen characters, not only sexy, savvy 30-year-old Plum, but also Plum's two loves--mysterious Ranger and tough Vice cop Joe Morelli--as well as the terrified kidnapped child. Even though the book has a tense, dark plot, King shines in its comic moments, which feature Plum's sassy, unpredictable partner, Lula, as well as her swinger Grandma, impatient mother, and grumpy father. In a big audiobook bonus, King interviews the author on life, love, work habits, and Plum's muddled relationships with men. M.T.B. 4.0 out of 5 stars Three's Company, Aug 18 2007
By
Amanda Richards (Georgetown, Guyana) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (HALL OF FAME)    (REAL NAME)
Twelve Sharp cuts through Ranger's previously impervious shell to reveal a side that you've seldom, if ever, seen before, and this time it's the dark knight who's in distress and Stephanie's turn to play Batgirl.

Things get extremely steamy when Batman decides to hang out in a new bat cave, and when Stephanie's longtime sometime boyfriend finds out, the guano really hits the fan.

No one stops at her door
They just go right on through
Now the pressure's on her and him and him
Three's company too.

All the usual suspects are back again, but this time they're joined by a bunch of out of control FTAs, wannabe bounty hunters, plus two fiery, black clad super-crazy females, only one of whom is Joyce, Stephanie's archenemy.

The fun keeps flowing when Lula decides to embark on a new career, complete with short shorts and chicken feathers, and Stephanie's grandmother takes on the new undertakers in town.

Stephanie's in one of her most dangerous predicaments so far, and that's not even taking into account the new murderer in her life. Twelve Sharp puts a fresh spin on familiar territory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Midwest Book Review, Dec 4 2006
This review is from: Twelve Sharp (Hardcover)
In the latest venture of the Stephanie Plum series, Stephanie's back to work as a bounty hunter and teaming up with former filing clerk Lula when Lula isn't singing with the rock band, What. Joe Morelli's still around as the hot boyfriend and mystery man Ranger's off to Miami. Things go haywire when a woman who claims to be Ranger's wife shows up and shoots at Stephanie. Then Ranger disappears after he is accused of kidnapping his little girl, who lives with her mother and stepfather in Miami. When the woman who claims to be Ranger's wife is murdered, Stephanie's out to prove Ranger's innocence, unaware she's attracted the attention of a Ranger wannabe.

Anything goes and a lot happens with this 12th installment. Janet Evanovich proves herself the master of wit with dialogue to die for and plenty of humor topped with loads of action. The triangle between Stephanie, Morelli, and Ranger continues but a new relationship has been added to the mix: Lula and Tank, Ranger's number one man. Highly recommended.
