Book Description

Aug 17 2006 Warriors: The New Prophecy (Book 5)

Before there is peace, blood will spill blood...

New territory brings new troubles for the fierce cats of the warrior Clans, who are still uncovering the secrets of their new home around the lake. Dangers they have never faced before are lurking in the twilight shadows, and former allies are acting strangely hostile.

As divisions between the Clans grow deeper, Firestar's daughters face troubling decisions. One is torn between loyalty to her calling and a forbidden love, while the other struggles with her best friend's betrayal and the surprising perils of the forest. The choices they make now could affect ThunderClan for generations to come . . . and with an unexpected enemy preparing to attack, their courage and strength will be needed more than ever if the Clan is to survive.

About the Author

Erin Hunter is inspired by a fascination with the ferocity of the natural world. As well as having great respect for nature in all its forms, Erin enjoys creating rich mythical explanations for animal behavior. She is also the author of the bestselling Warriors and Survivors series.

From AudioFile

This fifth book in Hunter's Warrior Series brings more unrest to the feline warrior clans, who face growing internal divisions. Hunter's cat characters (with names like Firestar and Mosspelt) each have their own virtues and demons. Nanette Savard is an inspired choice for narrator; there's a feline quality to her voice that's perfect here, a kind of purring undertone. Savard also brings a quiet dignity to lines like "you're a warrior, not a moonstruck rabbit" and conveys the serious nature of the cats' situations, and the often ferocious world in which they live. Her dazzling variety of voices (and tonal variety within voices) astonishes, and helps listeners keep straight the many, many cats they'll meet. Have anyone ever wondered how the world is perceived by animals? How about cats? What do they think? What would they say if they could talk? This book is all about the world of cats. It's all about their thinking, their acting, their adventures, their emotions, and their whole suspenseful life. Erin Hunter is a master of suspension. This book will lure you in and have you cling to it until the very end. This suspense is a large part of what made me a Warriors fan. The ending leaves you hanging with tension, and wanting to read more.

I did not read previous books in this series but I certainly intend to. If you haven't already, I suggest reading the whole series from the begging to the end. At least that is what I am going to do. For anyone who has already read them all I suggest another amazing cat series titled "Why Some Cats are Rascals". This is actually where my cat adventure reading started. You'll be amazed at how delightful these rascals are! Read all these books and you are bound to get addicted to them, I promise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another AWESOME and heartbreaking addition! Feb 5 2007
By Firecat - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Book 5 is absolutely action packed and doesn't stop till the last page! The start of the book talks of a mysterious death within a clan and will soon walk with StarClan. The four clans finally find their new territories and are still establishing boundries. StarClan is still walking to the new destination and the clans have not yet recieved a sign and are losing faith. RiverClan medicine cat was not ment to be and doesn't believe in their warrior ancestors. A secret meeting is being held with a cat who has passed, but does not walk amongst StarClan teaching blood to be ambitious. Great book highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Twilight Review Oct 20 2006
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I really enjoyed this book. I think it was a great sequel to the first books in the series. At the end of the book I cried it was so well written. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. There were so many twists and turns that I could not predict that kept me hooked. I read it in one day. It is very well written and I would reccommend it to anyone who loves cats, and likes adventure like stories. I really enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hunter does it again Aug 27 2006
By Melanie Edwards - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Twilight, the fifth book in the new prophecy series, is mainly a plot filler, tying up lose ends in the previous books all in preperations for the 6th book Sunset. this time we switch to Squirrelflight's point of view with some chapters for Leafpool. the clans are begining to settle into there new homes and life seems to be returning to normal again but trouble faces Firestar's two daughters. as Squirrelflight becomes more distant from Brambleclaw cause of his friendship to the shady Hawkfrost, she must also deal with the fact of Windclans sudden bitterness towards Thunderclan and as for Leafpool she must struggle with her feelings for Crowfeather that may affect her duties as medicine cat. the book starts out slow in the begining but really picks up at the middle mark and goes into hyper drive at the end which ends in a cliffhanger for Sunset. some people will be dissapointed as a beloved character dies but at the end people will realize it is a logical choice. another great read that will have you at the edge of your seat during its climactic showdown get as soon as possible.
