FINALLY! One of the best sitcoms is coming to DVD!

You can tell I'm a huge fan! All the elements of this show click so well every week, the casting was just perfect. Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer work extremely well on camera together. You always worry when a show starts off with a kid in the cast, how will they handle it as he or she grows up? In this case, no worries! The character of Jake is still always good for a few punchlines. The true genius of the show is Jon Cryer. His neurotic yet manic depressive portrayal of Alan is just pure comedy gold. Just like how Brad Garrett's Robert Barone was the best part of Everybody Loves Raymond, here too the supporting character steals the scene almost every time. I can't wait to go back and revisit these great first season episodes!

The episodes are just as good as I remember them but the extras are the highlight of this set to me.
In them you can learn how the show originated and how the main actors came to be picked.

Funny But I am not Sure Why

I am not a fan of sit-coms. Most of them I find silly or stupid. Maybe it is my age. But I find the humor to be forced and usually at the expense of one of the cast members. I really do not like humor based on someone's stupidity.
So when I channel surf and come across something that is watchable, I check it out. I mentioned to my wife about this, so we decided, for our summer viewing, to get season one.
We find it very funny. It is not based on anyone's stupidity, but on the differences between the characters.
Charlie Sheen does a great job and Cryer is his foil.
Whatever else goes on off screen is irrelevant. The show is funny.
