Sludge metal is such a bastardized and sometimes montonous genre to love. At times, there comes a point for it in which it hits a wall, bands running out of ways to reinvent it, the riffs, songs, and bands alike start all sounding the same. For Diehard sludge fans, we love the music nonetheless, but still yearn for more.
Enter Thou. Personally, I am a fan of Melody, and this band has hit upon a gold mine of gloriously bleak melody engraved within the sludgy mold of their evil riffage. hearing these dudes was like hearing black sabbath for the first time. It was as if new life had been restored in a single blackened breath. This album showcases the band's strength of crushing beauty on high.
