This is by far one of the best single player games I've ever played. If you enjoyed the first one, the sequel is everything and so much more. Improved in literally every way possible, it's a fantastic, cinematic experience. Better story, better gameplay, better variety. Amazing. There is no multiplayer, and the game is very easy, but plays like a good Hollywood action movie. Anyone who is a fan of action, historical fiction or video games in general should definitely give this game a whirl!

It's clear Ubisoft took to heart all the criticism from the first game. While it was an excellent idea that still was incredibly immersive, it had alot of problems in the sense that there just wasn't alot of variety to the gameplay. Assassin's Creed 2 completely makes up for all those errors, but extends the franchise in a meaningful way BEYOND just what the critics were asking for, and becomes an experience that will be hard to top.Firstly, the tone of the game is vastly more compelling. Personally, the first game was a bit too drab and depressing. Understandable due to the setting of the crusades, but now, Italy has this great sense of romance, wonderment, and dread all at the same time. Ezio is a vastly more compelling character in comparison to Altair, being more human, relatable, and flawed. The story outside of the animus is more interesting as well. There are a lot more interesting sections in the storytelling, and the characters have a lot more to say that's relevant to who they are without repeating the same "GET TO WORK" that the last game had. Ezio is faster, and as a result, moving around feels more fluid, and fun. There's more to find in the city (except without the tedium of flags.... just feathers.... don't worry, there aren't as many!), and it actually DOES serve a purpose. There are minor RPG elements in the game, and everything works far better, and in a more interesting way. Visually, Ubisoft's AMAZING art team comes through once again in creating 15th Century Italy. While there are some occasional visual hitches, and if you look closely, you can see odd shadow glitches, or occasional texture pop-in. But the superb art direction, excellent animation, and fantastic cinematic characterizations of the cast does an excellent job in masking those flaws. The dialogue is EXCELLENTLY performed and written, and while still very much holding an action-movie style that videogames seem to get stuck in alot of the time, this one just has more heart, thought, and dedication put into it. The music, also, is just EXCELLENT! There will be some pacing issues for some in the beginning. But the methodically-paced opening really lets the story breathe, and lets the events of the game develop in a way that makes them feel more impactful later. Boy, does it ramp up..... Overall, AMAZING GAME! One of the best in 2009, and is a shining example of how to properly do a sequel. Pick this one up, without question!
