4.0 out of 5 stars My eyes are full of stars!, Sep 30 2011

This review is from: Child of Eden (Video Game)
Child of Eden is the spiritual successor to the extremely trippy and spacial game Rez. Its an incredibly unique game that feels alternately like a bold artistic statement, a retro-style rail shooter, and a mushroom trip. After a very beautiful CGI/Live-Action intro movie setting up the single-paragraph story, you're dropped into a discombobulating tube of tetrahedrons, worm-like crystalline entities, and pulsing electronic music. Its honestly one of the most visual-and-auditory intense experiences I've ever had off of my TV. Definitely make sure you don't have epilepsy. The gameplay is quite fun, and though the game is a bit short if you blast right through it, I find its one of the most unique and "...whoa." inspiring games in my collection. It supports Move controls which I haven't yet played with, but others have reporting a bit of drift and delay on it. It does seem like it would be a more natural interface for aiming however.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 3D experience unlike no other...even Rez cannot compare, Oct 3 2011

This game is absolutley a trip and there's nothing out there like it. If you're into shooters or music games you will love it. Its from the guys who brought us the legendary game Rez back in the Dreamcast days. The way I played it was with the Move controller on the Type B setting. You point at the screen and either hold the trigger to rapid shoot or hold the Move button to lock-on and shoot multiple targets. It works perfect. I also played it in 3D on a 73" television with 5.1 DTS surround sound. Its simply one of it not the best experience I've had in my 30 years of playing video games.

Warning: If you don't play it in 3D or with the Move then this game might just seem like any other shooter/music game. You might even find Rez to be superior. But play it the way it was intended with Move/3D and you will have one of the best gaming experiences ever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Graphics, simply could not hold my attention., April 12 2012

NOTE: I only played this game for about 20minutes with the playstation move controller.

The graphics are very good, visually exciting. However, the menu system is intimidating and non-instructive and aiming with the move controller felt cumbersome (it was difficult to aim at enemies, and sometimes I would lose track of my orientation and not be able to find the enemies). You might want to blame my room lighting or distance from my camera, but I play "the fight: lights out" with perfect 1:1 matching, so I don't think that's the issue.

Perhaps I'll give this game some more play time (and possibly edit my review), but I was really expecting something much more entertaining based on all of the positive reviews, and I was left wondering why I purchased this game at all.
