One of the Best Main Events, Feb 26 2011

This review is from: UFC 125: Resolution (DVD)
I heard so many people say that Maynard is boring all he does is lay on his opponents. Frankie sucks all he does is punch and move. While this main event shut all that talk up. Frankie is may favorite fighter and he proved that he has the heart to carry the lightweight championship. Maynard on the other hand proved that he is more than just a wrestler almost finishing Frankie in round 1. To me this was one of the most exciting fights ever, the back and forth between Maynard/Edgar was crazy that had me on the edge of my seat. That wasn't the only exciting fight either, the co-main event with Brian Stann and Chris Leben was exactly what it was promised to be, a stand up war. Stann proved that he can be a threat in the Middleweight division in this fight. Another fight that was good was Vera/Silva. And the ground game of Nick Diaz is crazy he stays working from the bottom. For everyone who thought this PPV was going to be boring has to change their mind because this is easily one of the best PPV's the UFC has done in awhile. And it could be PPV of the year who knows?

EDGAR & MAYNARD SERVE UP A NEW YEAR THRILLER!!, Jun 9 2011

on January 1, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada Lightweigts Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard went toe to toe in a classic back and forth match that even though it was taking place on January 1st staked a very EARLY claim for 2011's match of the year. Frankie Edgar as the defending champion was out to avenge his only loss against number one contender Xtreme Couture stand out Gray Maynard. Would Edgar once again overcome the odds like he did against BJ Penn or would Maynard superior wrestling prove to much for Edgar like it did back at Florian vs. Lauzon Fight Night back in April 2008. All i can say is that this fight was one of the most gripping that i have seen!
UFC 125 was originally to have Shane Carwin fight Roy Nelson, but a combination of event s put paid to that, so in the co main event hard hitters Chris Leben and Brian Stann went head to head, Leben is hardly ever in a bad fight and both fighters go looking for a KO early. Brazilian Thiago Silva who hadn't fought in nearly a year took on Brandon Vera in what was a good fight, however this fight would be shrouded in controversy weeks afterwards. Scrap pack fighter and brother of Nick, Nate Diaz battled Dong Hyun Kim in an entertaining battle. Speaking of entertaining Clay Guida brings his 100 miles an hour fight pace to the Octagon to fight International superstar Takanori Gomi. On the undercard which is included Josh Grispi fights Dustin Poirier knowing a win would give him a Featherwight title shot, Grispi was originally to fight Champion Jose Aldo at this event.
As usual these 2 disc UFC DVD are jam packed with features including all the preliminary fights as well as the always excellent countdown show which is what you should watch first if you have not already seen the event. The weigh ins are included as well so get ready for some stare down's. UFC 125 started the year off with a bang for the UFC and is well worth owning.
