All I wanted was a simple voice phone and this is it. I moved the sim card over from my previous phone, keyed in the included unlock code and then seconds later I was up and running on my 7-eleven (Rogers) account. Not a lot of features here but I got what I wanted - a nice compact slim flip phone with long battery life. Great!!!

Six months later: Still very pleased with this phone and no problems at all. I thought I would add though that you should buy a USB cable with a microUSB connector on one end (Amazon sells them for $5 or so) so that you can connect the phone directly to your computer without having to use Bluetooth which is a nuisance. The USB connection will allow you to directly transfer photos and the like from the phone to your computer and to charge the phone at the same time (rather than using the included power bar). One negative will mention also is that this phone does not support plug in memory cards so you are limited to the 100 meg or so of built in memory and can't add to it so transferring things off your phone is important if you take a really lot of photos.

This is a pretty simple phone. I use it for voice mainly so it works great for me. I wish it came with a data cable, but I ordered one on-line and it was super simple to upload photos to my PC. The manual does not cover this but as soon as I plugged the cable in it downloaded the driver and gave options to upload data, photos, etc. I tried the Bluetooth download but found that I could only download one photo at a time. Also the Bluetooth connect is rather complicated. All around I am very happy with this phone.

Love it! I got it mainly for emergencies so didn't need any bells or whistles. It has more features than I will probably use at my age but for the great price, it was all a bonus. Appreciated the fast delivery...2 days at the busiest time of the year!

I bought this phone only to spite the Big Three (Rogers, Bell and Telus). I was determined to get an unlocked phone, and then buy a SIM card and choose my carrier and the plan (or NO plan) I want, not what they want me to have. I did that. Not sure whether it's the phone or or the carrier (7-eleven SpeakOut), but some of the features don't work incl browser. Otherwise It's great as a phone and a zillion other gimmicks that are included.

The reasons I bought it are:
1. I needed a inexpensive unlocked phone
2. I already had a locked Samsung phone almost the same
3. Wanted world phone
4. Samsung's reliability

Does everything I need at a low price. I don't need a smart phone. We have a tablet and along with this purchase we are all set for our holidays in the USA - 2 TO 3 MONTHS EACH WINTER.

This item arrived on time. However, while it sometimes could go for 2-3 days on a charge, at times the battery died after one day. While travelling in an area that supposedly had AT&T coverage, it would only get 1 bar or less. Even when I had 3 or more bars it would drop calls mid-conversation. More testing required.

When I purchase a new unlocked phone, I expect it to come unlocked in a sealed package from the manufacturer. What I received was a new phone locked to a carrier and a key to do the unlocking myself. Although applying the key is a minor inconvenience, the procedure bases this sale on misleading advertising. Whether it also is plainly illegal will depend on how the unlocking key was obtained from the manufacturer/the carrier. Amazon should explain.

A decent value that is a pleasure to use. - a good basic flip phone. I have only owned an LG A447 which is similar in features and appearance so comparison is made. I specifically purchased an unlocked GSM Band phone to work with Petro Canada Mobility's sim card which it did with no problem.. It is wonderful to use with their pay as you go plan, I just pay for calls I make. I like this phone to carry around for quick and emergency calls.

PROS: Nice and small to carry in a side pocket. The default setup is much less obtrusive than the LG under WindMobile, the LG would vibrate very loudly and beep far too often. On the Samsung, I find the battery length excellent with my low usage. I only have to charge it every 5-6 days. Unlike some reviews I saw about this phone, the auto-updater for the time and date works perfectly, it just corrected for daylight saving time no problem.

Both PRO and CON: The micro-USB charging port has a kind of funny cover that is at first tricky to use. You have to lift and rotate the cover in a way that looks opposite from the pdf manual for the phone. The PRO is that it protects the port, the CON is that is tricky and looks like something that could break very easily. However no problems with it so far. I am being very careful.

CONS: The voice quality is decent - good, I was from other reviews it would be better than the LG, but not so.. The screen and fonts are smaller than the LG. While I like its features much more than the LG, it seems a bit less sturdy. Check the battery cover every so often, there isn't much holding it on that I can see.

But overall, for occasional use, a very good phone.
