Product Description

Is religious belief reasonable?

UNREALigious tackles this question with clarity and scope that is rarely found within a genre so-often obscured by arrogance, carelessness and oversimplification.

Interesting and relevant examples are used to elucidate the full extent of the religious position while providing the reader with an introduction to essential and diverse subjects within philosophy, science and history.

Following a natural progression through the foundations of religious belief, UNREALigious offers a sweeping contemporary overview of the atheist position, defined not by specific unified beliefs but by opposition to fundamental religious arguments.

From near death experiences to religious charity, from biblical errors to the genetic code, from plate tectonics to the work of Thomas Aquinas, UNREALigious is a powerful answer to an always relevant question.

Religious belief is unreasonable.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read!!!! Jan 31 2013

Intelligent arguments supported by interesting history, anecdotes and facts. Unreligious examines common arguments for the value of religion in today’s society and attempts to remove misconceptions, misrepresentations, and nonsense from the arguments using logical and historical examples.

The book basically lays out major justifications for religion in individual chapters; Miracles happen so religion must exist, Religion is necessary for man to be good, Religion is inevitable etc. Each chapter examines the arguments for and against the justification and filters it down to a straightforward analysis.

I highly recommend it. It’s a really interesting read. I especially liked the chapter on the early history of Catholicism and the bible.

Unrealigious is an interesting and clearly articulated take on the religious position. I particularly enjoyed the first half of the book, which focuses on the potential truth of religion. The use of anecdotes and facts as well as the style of writing make what are sometimes difficult scientific concepts easy to understand, yet accurate and enjoyable to read. Practical examples are incorporated in a way that is straightforward and sometimes humorous.
This book is a clear, effective and entertaining take on religion. I highly recommend it!
