1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money, Jun 28 2004
By Sean C. Hall "History-buff" (Orlando, Florida United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I had high hopes for this book when I purchased it for myself. I was hoping to gain insight into training techniques used by fencing professionals, or even the Olympic fencing team, but unfortunate all this book offers is some basic weight lifting information which you can get anywhere. The information in this book isn't even specific to the sport of fencing. I hope someday to find a book on weight & practical training for fencing, but take it from me this book isn't it. It will leave you with the feeling that you were ripped off.

1.0 out of 5 stars Weight Training for Fencing - doesn't deserve a star, Mar 9 2004
By Pieter Leeuwenburgh (Box Hill North, Victoria Australia) - See all my reviews
This book is a waste of money. The word fencing is mentioned 5-6 times. You could get the same information from a general weight training book, there are no specific strength exercises for fencing. It is interesting to note that the book gets 4 stars overall, but all the 5 star reviews are by anonymous readers. Don't spend your money on this rubbish, go to a gym and speak to the trainers there if you want general strength training.

1.0 out of 5 stars No effort expended, Mar 4 2004
By A Customer
Regrettably, since there is a need for a true guide to weight training for fencing, I have to discourage others from buying this manual (80 pages in soft cover hardly qualifies as a book). The author has done no work to focus on the sport of fencing. This manual is simply a basic introduction to weight training. It is not in any way tailored to fencing. It proposes a very general year-round training program, does not relate to the special needs of fencers, fails to actually discuss any of the exercises it lists as they relate to the sport, and generally would be useful only to individuals with very limited knowledge of weight training.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Guide to Weight Training for Fencing
This book is irrelevant for fencing. The exercises suggested are generally what one would see in any health club and they are of little interest to a fencer. Read more
