The Hum of Healing,

This album contains the sound of the "Rolling Om," a continuous tone created by a roomful of people chanting the OM mantra. Goldman recorded this healing mantra with cutting-edge technology underpinned by his knowledge of sacred sound, intentionality and psychoacoustics. The sound utilizes the Pythagorean ratio of 2:3, which is an aspect of the Golden Mean, and vibrates in the keynote of C (256 cycles per second), which is considered a harmonic of the resonant frequency of the earth's electromagnetic field.On the first listen, it just sounded like a slowly evolving hum with flutes weaving in and out of the mix. Repeated listening reveals the beauty of this gentle humming sound, whilst the "flutes" are really voice overtones as I subsequently discovered. These overtones or harmonics that float in and out of the mix were created by Goldman and Alec Sims and are the natural result of an overtone singer chanting the OM. They color the overall sound in an intriguing way, ensuring a gentle but profound spiritual listening experience. The CD booklet contains fascinating information on mantras, the pronunciation of the OM, the creation of this recording, the science of psychoacoustics and the qualities of harmonics. The uses recommended for this music includes: enhancing sacred space for healing and ritual, a listening tool for meditation, inducing states of deep relaxation, as a background to chant to or just to surround oneself with a gentle sonic background whilst working or relaxing. Total playing time is just over 71 minutes. In addition to Ultimate Om, I recommend Goldman's exquisite Chakra Chants, another sonic masterpiece that was made for balancing the body's seven main energy vortices through the appropriate use of vocal and instrumental sounds. Holy Harmony by the same musician contains a unique blend of voices and tuning fork frequencies with powerful healing emanations. I bought Ultimate Om because I was so impressed by the aforementioned, and I have not been disappointed. Goldman's beautiful healing music is profoundly inspiring and uplifting.

Very Surprisingly Effective,

At first when I put this CD on, I was briefly worried that I had just bought a cd of one tone.. A few minutes later I realized what an amazingly effective tool this really is!!!!For Meditation - one can use this in many ways. Chanting Om can be more effective in a group, the synergistic sounds and cranial -acoustics can really put a meditator in a deeply altered state. And meditators are not always privy to large or even modest groups of chanting folk... So this is ideal for that situation. Next, doing a superimposed mantra - say progressing chakra chants - this will create a wonderful and empowering sonic backdrop, while also uniting the seven chakra chants with the universal Om. Of Course there are countless other meditation modes to speak of - but I will only write of a couple as my reviews already run too long. Sleep Inducing - This is one of the most, if not the most, powerful sonic tools for sleep. I have several problems sleeping and this is something that truly helps me. Focusing on the slight to obvious changes, gradual and ethereal, the brain is easily snared into a peaceful loop. Since there is no beat, no discernible melody - I am able to use it night after night without getting bored, as I do with many relaxation CDs. The Chakra Suite is also perfect for this reason and is tied with Ultimate Om in my meditation/sleep toolbox. Think of it as a tool for your brain. This is not music: it is something different and wonderful.

Great Experience,

I had skipped over buying this CD for quite some time thinking that it would be very similar to the Chakra Chants CDs 1 and 2.It is quite different, and beautifully done. It is great to meditate to, as well as great to use for ambient music. The rolling sound is very rejuvenating and inspiring. I don't find it to be repetitive. The OM's are continuous and layered over each other. I actually play this CD in the car while driving which I wouldn't do with most CDs of this type. It is not somber or slow enough that it would cause a case of "falling asleep at the wheel". It has enough energy flowing through it to keep your awareness in the present. As with any sound healing CD I recommend using closed headphones to truly appreciate all of the subtle tones and frequencies that are woven into this music for healing and balancing. Not necessary BUT, I do notice that hearing the music through speakers is so different than with the headphones, there is no contest the beauty of this music really does shine through when you are equipped to capture all of the sounds intentfully put into it. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful

The person who gave this only one star evidently did not understand the point of the CD. It is not music to listen to in the manner of pop music. It is meant for meditating and healing. It is over one hour of a continuous OM with minor background variations. The effect is powerful.
