These boards work well for slightly larger comics. these are REGULAR size comic boards (i.e. They are 6-7/8 in. wide by 10-1/2 in. high) Thus, they require a bag to match.
Amazon "recommends" these boards for modern size comics.
Strike 1 for Amazon
The people who are complaining about the size of these, read the titles and description and understand your comics. I am a novice comic book collector/reader so I already had some strikes against me but, I DID figure out the Amazon recommendation was wrong. BUT, Ultra Pro makes great products and don't blame them for your misunderstandings. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for not reading and comprehending what you are buying.
Strike 1 for Consumers
The breakdown.
If you have regular sized comics (or thick modern/current size comics) buy these boards and REGULAR size bags.
The size of these (REGULAR) boards/bags: 7-1/4 in. wide by 10-1/2 in
The size of MODERN boards/bags: 6-7/8 in. wide by 10-1/2 in
If you KNOW what you are buying, these boards are great. If you don't read or understand how comic sizing works, stop complaining for YOU erroneously purchasing something you didn't actually read the description of nor understand the use of.
Unfortunately, Amazon DOES NOT seem to carry Ultra Pro MODERN/CURRENT size boards, probably why many suffer from confusion, but that shouldn't give you the right to knock a good product when YOU are the one clearly at fault.
To those looking at these though: Take a look at what your local shop has to offer. I bought 100 bags for $4 and 100 boards for $9. MUCH cheaper than Amazon can sell them because of their free shipping offers.
To further help the other novice comic readers, or buyers, or for those who can't read Amazon's item titles/descriptions prior to purchase, here is a breakdown of comic bag and board sizes (respectively)
Current Comic Bags/boards:----| 6-7/8 in. X 10-1/2 in. 6-3/4 in. X 10-1/2 in.
Regular Comic Bags/boards:----| 7-1/4 in. X 10-1/2 in. 6-7/8 in. X 10-1/2 in.
Silver Age Comic Bags/boards:--| 7-1/8 in. X 10-1/2 in. 7-1/8 in. X 10-1/2 in.
Golden Age Comic Bags/boards:-| 7-3/2 in. X 10-1/2 in. 7 1/2 in. X 10 1/2 in.
Magazine Comic Bags/boards:---| 8-1/2 in. X 11 in. 8-1/2 in. X 11 in.
[Note: there are many sizes of magazines and golden age comics so the sizes are the average of the market offering of supplies. All the sizes listed are averages and may not be the exact sizes of all the comics sold in any given age]
Hope it helps someone. And remember, READ what is being offered before you commit to the purchase and you should be fine. If you don't read it or understand it, don't complain please. These really are great boards for comics (and quilting/sewing too I'm sure) and I would recommend them for any average to slightly above average comic reader with slightly bigger comics. (Others may want a better board and higher quality bag, but I'm not investing in comics, merely buying them to read and enjoy. But find it a good idea to protect them to allow my enjoyment for many years to come.
