HASH(0xa54520a8) out of 5 stars NO TACKS, NO MAGNETS!!!! Jan. 8 2014

First, I will say I like the actual frames themselves. For the price, these aren't 5 star quality since there's obvious side seams in the plastic, but if that was the only problem I would give these frames a solid 4.

The massive, overwhelming, glaring problem that can't be overlooked is that the description flat out lies about how these attach to the wall. It says it's a combination magnet and pin, but in reality there are plastic pieces that snap into the back to provide the floating illusion and then little adhesive stickers to hold up the frames. This means frames cannot be moved around once they're up, so no playing with placement or changing things up if you change out the photos. When you do want to change the photos, you can't take these off the wall do to it since the snap-in backs are so tight the little sticker will just rip right off the wall (with some combination of wall paint coming off and sticker residue being left behind)

But really, all of these problems with the mounting are only issues if you can get the frames on the wall in the first place. My walls are slightly textured, not flat, so adhesives like this just don't hold up for longer than 5 minutes.

If these had the advertised magnet and pin, they would be slightly overpriced, but still worth it for the gimmick of floating Polaroid-type photos if you're like me and enjoy that sort of thing. But, as-is, these are pretty worthless. Sadly, I had so taken the word of this listing that I didn't pay attention before mauling the box, so I'm going to keep the frames and try to modify them myself to be properly functional.

Looking at previous reviews, it seems the change from pin to adhesive is recent and the ad was just never updated to reflect the change. I hope Umbra realizes what a horrible mistake this was and goes back to the previous mounting.

HASH(0xa74decd8) out of 5 stars Not like 1st set I got May 7 2013

I had a set of these and wanted more so I ordered a second set. Issue is that the new set has sticker backs, not tack backs as described on product page. Page states "Mounts to wall with simple tack (included)". I went ahead and kept the new set and put on the wall. Now they're falling down. Really wish it had come with tack backs as described. Now I'm trying to contact Umbra directly to see if I can order the tacks.

Great, cute way to display photos. Love these especially since Kodak stopped making Polaroid film.
One thing that kept me from giving these a 5 star review is that if you even nudge or knock into them a bit they fall off the wall very easily. They don't break and they go back up very easily so this isn't a huge problem at all.
Great for apartments, dorms, etc, where you're only allowed to put small pin marks in the wall.

HASH(0xa551463c) out of 5 stars Added a magnet to each one, and gave them out as x-mas gifts! March 10 2013

Loved how these look like Polaroid's. I wanted to give the family a picture fridge magnet of my newborn, so I added little magnets to the back of each Polaroid. I used the "Applied Magnets ® 100 Rare Earth Neodymium Magnets 1/4" X 1/16" Discs" and they fit perfectly in the hole in the back made for the tape. My family loved it, and it was way more original than a regular fridge magnet.

HASH(0xa5514684) out of 5 stars Great framing idea Oct. 27 2010

Well made product. I pinned a few of those on my office desk wall and it's been admired by coworkers. A magnetic mounting option would have been a good idea for placing the frames on steel surfaces.
