About the Author
Savannah Russe is a professional copywriter. She has previously published two works of nonfiction, and her short stories have appeared in many small press magazines in the U.S. and Europe. In addition to writing, she runs an antiques barn called Big Red Barn on her 32 acre farm in the Endless Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. Also "on the farm" are eleven cats and three dogs, along with bunnies, deer, bears, foxes, wild turkeys... and, of course, bats.

Great Series and Author,

Savannah Russe is ia very articulate, well read author who has researched the setting for her "paranormal series" extremely well. The characters are well developed (love em or hate em), the story line and plot of each book blends intrigue, horror, violence and eroticism making for a great read. What I really liked was how she developed her characters with each book. Daphne Urban, the heroine/protagonist in the novels is a 500 year old vampire who is brilliant and has had to hone strong survival instincts over her century of life. In the first book she is coerced into becoming a spy for a top secret government agency. The 5 books build on that main plot, and Russe gradually introduces the characters that become part of Daphne's personal and professional life.Darius, Daphne's on again off again lover is a "hottie", and despite her misgivings about the relationship continues to arrive on her door step. She can never turn him away. Mar Mar, Daphne's controlling, overbearing 1000 year old vampire mother is a force to be reckoned with. Daphne constantly struggles with that relationship and with Mar Mar's mechanizations concerning her life. I really liked the fact that Russe maintained the calibre of her writing throughout the 5 books. She seems to have an in depth knowledge of poetry and manages to weave it into the story lines beautifully. I would recommend reading the series in order, although a reader could probably pick up any of the 5 books and understand what is going on. I thought the 5th book was the last in the series, however I noticed another reviewer indicated there is to be one more. I will certainly be looking forward to it.

Daphne Urban is back and once again facing danger, but what can you expect when you are part of an ultra-secret spy group that is composed of vampires? This time Daphne and her fellow Darkwings are on the tracks of a terrorist group who have discovered the secret of an old wartime experiment, which they are going to use to destroy part of New York. So with little to nothing to go on, the Darkwings are out to find and destroy the terrorist plot.Just so Daphne can¢t get too bored with life, she also has to deal with a bunch of vampire hunters that have flooded into the city and have seemed to target her along with several others. This group seems to have something to do with an old enemy that Daphne thought they had declawed. It also seems to have brought in the love of her life, Darius della Chiesa, who is a spy himself but for another agency and a new vampire. Daphne knows that no one can understand her feelings for Darius and most of her friends and family would rather stake him first and ask questions later. However, when Daphne and Darius get back together they are hotter than ever. Danger comes for Daphne and Darius from several angles and Daphne needs to not only decide if she can trust Darius but also make decisions that could change her life. Under Darkness is Book Five in the Darkwing Chronicles that has yet another mystery for Daphne and the other Darkwings to solve and make sure they are not found out about. This time Daphne not only has to come to grips with some things that happened to her on the last mission but she will also have to confront her obsession with Darius and how he is thought of by others near her. I have come to love several of the Darkwings and I have been pushing for Daphne to get her man from the very beginning. Once again I was sucked in by the danger, mystery, suspense, hot sex and just the relationships that intermix with the Darkwing members. I will say that Daphne and Darius have not yet obtained their happily ever after, but they made a major step towards it this time. Under Darkness once again shows me why I have the Darkwing Chronicles on my must read list as soon as they come out. You do not have to read the chronicles in order, but I would suggest it, as there are several places where things that happened in previous books are brought up. Pretty good not the best though,

This book was pretty good. I will say it's not the best I've read only because I've read JR Ward, Larissa Ione, Jeanienne Frost. But if your looking for a series to fill the gap while waiting for a book this series is pretty good. Russe's vamps turn into Bats in this series along with them eating extremely rare steaks. Like the main character Daphne owns a dog. Just overall really different type of vamp.
