Zelenka Masterpiece,
By
This review is from: Under the Olive Peace & the Pa (Audio CD)
This work, commissioned for the coronation of Charles the VI and Empress Christina, was the greatest artistic success of Zelenka's life. The piece was originally conceived as a grand staged pageant and therefor looses much of its continuity when listened to on CD. Nevertheless, it is a work of dazzling beauty and a must for anyone captivated by the profundity of this Bohemian Bach. The recording is superb in every respect.
