Steven Seagal can consider himself lucky if he ever makes a better movie than this one, which was appropriately dubbed "Die Hard on a battleship" when released in 1992. Seagal handles the heroic duties with his usual wooden efficiency, but the movie's greatest assets are a punchy script and the scene-stealing performances of Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey. The two play leaders of a terrorist group who take over the venerable battleship USS Missouri during its final commissioned voyage. They're crazed psychotics who seize control of the ship's nuclear arsenal, but they don't know that Seagal--as the ship's cook, no less--is a former Navy hero, lurking in the shadows and waiting to spoil their nefarious scheme. Director Andrew Davis (The Fugitive) helms the action with skillful style, and as the cheesecake stripper who proves handy with a hand grenade, Playboy Playmate-turned-actress Erika Eleniak gives Seagal another reason to strut his macho stuff. Under Siege is hormonal hokum for gun-happy viewers, but as action movies go, this one's a definite guilty pleasure. --Jeff Shannon

5.0 out of 5 stars Great action movie Mar 7 2013
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
Another Steven Seagal action hero movie. This time he's on a US battleship being taken over by former US Navy seals
and commanders to steal nuclear tipped weapons to sell to anyone willing to pay their price. Things get out of hand on
the battleship and Seagal, as the cook for the ship's commander has to take matters into his own hands along with a pinup
girl who was brought on board to celebrate a birthday, by jumping out of the cake in a very skimpy outfit, but in the
end , helps Seagal dispatch the terrorists and regain control of the ship.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing visual quality for blu-ray Jan 4 2010

Format:Blu-ray
I like this movie, but was hoping for much better picture quality than what this blu-ray offers. It's quite disappointing. Though there are moments here and there of good clarity, for the most part this film is unfortunately dull and grainy. (Did they just transfer portions from vhs tape? Because at times it looks that bad.) Maybe the regular dvd looks better or at least as good, so consider your options. Also, there are no extras on the blu-ray except for the grainy trailer.

this Seagal flick is pretty darn good.the hand to hand combat scenes
are very well done here.of course,Seagal is his usual stone faced
self, when it comes to his acting.but there are some great supporting
players in this one.Gary Busey,Nick Mancuso,Tommy Lee Jones,and Colm
Meaney are all stellar.and of course Erika Eleniak is also in the
movie, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on your
view.anyway, this thing is fairly action packed, though not exactly
original.you could call it Die Hard on A Ship.it is however, one of
Seagal's better movies.in fact,i think it would be in the top three of
his movies. The only two i can think of that are better are,the
sequel,Under Siege 2 and Exit Wounds.if you're a Seagal fan you might
want to check those two out also.for me,Under Siege is a 3.5/5
