Canadian author Alison Bruce has crafted a heroine every red blooded postmodern female wishes she were, with a man like Jase riding the trails of Texas beside her. Set in the southwestern USA at the turn of the 20th century, with a feisty Marley who dresses as a boy in order to track down the conman who betrayed her, Marley meets up with handsome Texas Ranger Jase who is chasing the same criminal. The inevitable occurs as Jase discovers Marley's secret and passions flare. A good read and an example of what makes a best seller. Thanks, Alison!

4.0 out of 5 stars Saddle Up for an Entertaining Read Oct 26 2012
Format:Paperback
I found this tale of the old West to be charming and unexpected. The setting of "Texas back in the day" is so well-drawn and realistic, I felt I was there. The protagonists, Marley and Jase, are attractive, sympathetic characters whose lives didn't begin on page one. I was so glad ... well, never mind, no spoilers here! The plot is seamlessly woven throughout the story, and the ending is thrilling and satisfying. I do hope there will be a sequel.
