Chantal is amazing.,

This review is from: Under These Rocks And Stones (Audio CD)
I thought "Under these rocks and stones" was definitely Chantal's best work. Although I still appreciate her new music, I always find myself going back to her debut. It has a raw feel; emotionally as well. My favourite tracks are "Don't be good" and "Wayne" I definitely recommend this cd to any Chantal fan, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent album, full of feeling,

This debut album from Canadian Chantal Kreviazuk reminds one very much of 'Little Earthquakes' from Tori Amos; there's a powerful voice that can range from sultry to angst filled, There's well played piano present through the bulk of the tracks and there's really strong feeling in the lyrics and tone of the various songs. Chantal isn't an Amos clone, though - she finds her ground quickly and offers a number of well formed tracks starting with the upbeat 'God Made Me' to those that convey greater emotion ('Surrounded', for example, talks about the real life suicide of a friend of hers). Wholly recommended for fans of strong female singers.

Chantal Kreviazuk is a wonderful talent and this is a smokin' debut. From the well-known opening track on, you'll be hooked to her playing and singing. David Rehak
