Forget everything you thought you knew about..., Jan 4 2005

This review is from: Understanding God's Will (Paperback)
Kyle Lake was an unfamilar name prior to picking up "Understanding God's Will". The main reason I had picked it up is because it was under the Relevant Book umberella. Quite honestly, I was suprised at how well Lake takes a potentially mundane/serious issue and addresses it with humor, and great applications. This is not a book of fluff, and surely one that needs to be read more than once to really grasp the material.
It's about time someone took the time to move past formulas and point to the God who is not confined to our methods. Kyle treats the topic in a gentle, yet profound manner and his respect for the sacredness of Scripture is displayed time after time.
Dripping with personal life experiences, and applications to potentially misunderstood scriptures, Kyle Lake is an author I look forward to reading more from in the future.

Witty and insightful, Kyle Lake's Understanding God's Will is a must read for those seeking a fresh, honest approach to discovering what God desires in our lives. Lake skillfully navigates the reader through the trite formulas and truisms that have dominated- and dumbed down- the pursuit of God's will, replacing them with holistic, workable metaphors that inspire the reader to seek God with the whole of their lives.

Truly Amazing, Nov 9 2004

There are certain, special books that you read that you never forget. They are books that impact you to such a degree that your world is forever changed. This is one of those books. As people, regardless of whether we are believers and non-believers, all of us - like it or not - have a history with God. And, in arriving at that destination, where we attempt to reconcile truth/reality and the existence or non-existence of God, we all arrive with baggage. Often times we aren't even conscious of it. In his book, Kyle Lake identifies that baggage and invites you to leave it behind. This is a book that you will not forget because it will remind you that you are free to be you and much loved. An amazing book.
