This was a used textbook but it was in very good quality and looked brand new. I got it a few days before the expected shipping date. This book was originally $170 new from my school's bookstore so buying it for only $85 and it being in such great condition was a great deal. I am very happy with my purchase.

I had to get this textbook for class, but either way - it's a great read! It certainly helps you understand what motivates people! Much cheaper online than the school's bookstore and arrived promptly!

Really good book. Well laid out, has an easy read. Plenty of examples to back up the theoretical jargon. Language is simple and easy to follow

Fabulous book! March 10 2011
By Whitney Morrison - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I purchased this book for my elective class for my Master's degree as a required reading but loved it so much I am sending it to my mother to read for enjoyment purposes as well. It is not only a text book but has some great insights as to what to do to just help you change your own way of thinking and living and how to motivate yourself and others on the job and in life in general. It is easy to read, grabs your attention, and keeps you captivated. It is not like reading a text book at all. This book will stay on my shelves for a lifetime.

Highly recommended June 7 2009

I read a lot of psychology books. This book is fantastic. Johnmarshall Reeve has a genuine talent to explain delicate subjects elegantly -- and with humor. A very complete manual, totally worth the hefty tag price. Recommended to anyone interested in psychology -- a great read for parents too.

Horrible Nov. 20 2013
By Adam Brooks - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Worst Text book I have ever had for a class hands down! I will be more than happy (emotion) and ten times more driven in life (motivation) once I never have to look at this book again!

The people who said it was boring were right... May 29 2014
By Tara DeMaderios - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I wanted to give this book a fair chance and not jump to conclusions based on others ratings, but it is INCREDIBLY dry and boring. I have an immensely hard time not falling asleep while reading it. It was really hard to get through. I have read many other texts for school, and many of them are dry and hard to read. However, this one takes the cake. I don't know if it the cadence, lack of color, lack of interesting graphics, or block style with no breaking up of text. Whatever it is, it just drones on seemingly forever. if you have to read it you have to read it, but be prepared with a lot of sleep and coffee when you sit down to read this beast.

BORING but loaded with knowledge. April 10 2011
By R. Blue - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I will have to admit this is one of the most boring text books I have ever read. Roughly 460 actual pages to read and I believe 1 picture, it is a dense textbook. I love psychology and motivation is an interesting topic which is why I took the course (plus it is required for my degree), my enthusiasm for the subject is why I think my review is so positive considering how dry this information presented is. Here is the truth, boring but filled with knowledge and presented in an understandable fashion. This book could easily be used in graduate level courses instead of undergraduate. My professor did make us read the whole book in a 10 week course but was honest with the information we needed to retain and know for our exams. If he hadn't done that I would have been discouraged simply because of the amount of knowledge presented. Overall one of the best text books I have ever had the privilege of reading, lol, but still boring.

I hope that helps!
