The official movie novelization of the latest film in the blockbuster action/horror movie series, Underworld—coming to theaters in January 2009 from Sony Pictures!
Centuries ago...two ageless and terrifying races—the aristocratic vampires and the feral lycans—are bound by a cruel, ancestral relationship between master and servant, and eternally separated by the ongoing, violent rivalry between their two species. But unknown to both nobility and enslaved alike, a clandestine—and forbidden—affair between the lycan servant Lucian and the beautiful vampire noblewoman Sonja burns brightly with an unbridled passion. Seeking to escape Sonja’s tyrannical father, Viktor, and a future in which their love is considered an abomination, Lucian risks the ever-present machinations of the court and his very life to cast himself and his beloved free of their bonds...a daring tactic that will eventually give all lycans the courage to rise up against their oppressive vampire overlords. New alliances are forged even as the chains of slavery are broken...and all that Lucian and Sonja hold dear will be threatened with utter annihilation....

The Prequil,

This review is from: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (Mass Market Paperback)
The original Underworld was so awesome it blew my mind, the second was great, the prequil was good but much of the story had already been told in the previous stories. I loved Sonja for whom she is and the actress is beautiful but Selene is impossible to follow. Thumbs up, but walking in the steps of greatness is so hard...

Good, but comes with flaws,
By S. Spleth - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (Mass Market Paperback)
If anyone has read the original prequel, Blood Enemy, you will find an error when you read Rise of the Lycans. In Blood Enemy, the beginning of the book has Lucian leading Lady Ilona (Viktor's wife/Sonja's mother) on a hunt for werewolves. When they return to the castle, Sonja (I think was a teenager at the time perhaps) greets her mother. In Rise of the Lycans, it says that Lady Ilona died giving birth to Sonja. Also, there are many grammatical errors in this book. Other than those two things, the story is well written.

Underworld:the rise of the lycans,
By Rachel Sanchez - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (Mass Market Paperback)
First of all I haven't seen the movie yet. The book was great and if the movie is the same as the book, its going to be a hit.I could'nt put the book down. It was easy to follow and kept me glue to the story. Learning about Sonja and Lucian and what the lycans were like was breath taking. And finding out about Viktor and how he treated his own daughter, he was evil to the very end. I really enjoyed reading the book. The only thing that was not mention was, who was Amelia and where did she come from? Thank you, Rachel 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful

Underworld of how it all began,
By Richard Petsch "book worm" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (Mass Market Paperback)
This book gives us the full scope of how the war between the vampires and the lycans began. The author captures it so well no wonder he has written all of the underworld stories. Thank you Mr. Cox for giving us what we wanted to know about how it all began. I am a true fan of all the underworld novels and movies.
