Product Description

From Library Journal

Doctors Huggins and Levy, who have spent years studying the toxic effects of dental materials, have written an authoritative book that accomplishes their stated purpose of "making the reader aware of the enormous and wide-ranging effects of dental toxicity." The authors have done an excellent job of describing the medical research in lay terms. They cover dental sources of toxicity, the body's reactions, specific diseases suspected or known to be caused by dental materials, and suggestions for dealing with such toxicity. Although a chapter with more clearly detailed information about alternative dental materials and detoxification methods would have been helpful, this work is well researched and well written. From the Inside Flap

Dr. Huggins and Dr. Levy assert that a large number of physical disorders are, though often incurable, easily preventable. He proposes that multiple sclerosis, lupus, leukemia, chronic fatigue syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, many mental disorders including Alzheimer’s, and even major diseases like breast cancer are caused, in part, by the metal toxins we place in our bodies. Where do these toxins come from and how do they get into our bodies? You may be surprised to find that you have actually to have them put there. These dangerous material – mercury, cadmium. Beryllium, nickel, and others -- are used in everyday dentistry to make up the fillings, root canals, and bridgework in our mouths, and are supposed to be “safe.” But are they?

"Uniformed Consent" presents cases of toxic poisoning – of depressed immune systems and inexplicable illnesses – all easily traceable to the toxins leaching into the bloodstream from the heavy metals in dental materials. The authors also discuss the hidden truths that the dental industry in American doesn’t want to talk about, and the real reason the dangers of these materials have been suppressed and ignored.

Drs. Huggins and Levy implore the reader: “Don’t leave your health in your dentist’s hands and assume that all will be fine. Become informed and take an active role in your health. Know what will be implanted in your mouth. You must decide at the out set what is more important to you – the life of a filling or your life.” Uninformed Consent will give you the facts so that you may take responsibility for your dental – and complete – health and wellness.

Something I did not know (and which the authors expose) is that dentists as a professsion have the highest suicide rate. It is because, they argue convincingly, dentists spend decades dealing with mercury, a deadly neuro-toxin, which collects in their brains. Although they don't comment on it, this is where the old expression, "Mad as a hatter" came from: in the past hatters became insane because they used mercury in their job. The average dental amalgam is 50% mercury: this is the poison the ADA claims is safe and allows dentists to place inches from peoples' brains? Europe is far ahead of us in this regard; mercury fillings are now illegal. The list of diseases improved or cured by removal of fillings is astonishing. The authors list case after case. Schopenhauer made the comment that ideas are first ridiculed, then violently opposed, then accepted as self-evident. I wonder how many years it will take before the dangers of these fillings will be accepted as self-evident.

A great book written by two very intelligent and "open minded" doctors. Dr. Thomas Levy's story lead me to taking a more pro-active position with my dental revision. I already knew about the devastating effects of my "silver fillings" and I had some knowledge about root canals. However, his story took me to the next level of action...removal of my two root canals. And yes, just like Dr. Huggins and Dr. Levy mention in the book, they were infected and a source of slow and constant poisoning of my body. I owe the a debt of graditute for their courage to speak out about yet another atrosity in dentistry.
They also go into detail about many other sources of mercury...eye contact lens solution, contraceptives, vaccines, seafood, etc.
If you want to know why we are getting sicker and sicker in this country, then you need to read this book.

Recently the FDA was forced to state that mercury in amalgam fillings may leak or contribute towards disease. This vindicates Dr. Huggins tireless campaign to point out the facts.

#1. Mercury vapor does come out of fillings daily. Mercury fillings called "silver" fillings contain 50% mercury, and about 15% silver. They also contain copper.

#2. Crowns and root canals have been correlated with diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, and Leukemia.

So we have children suffering from a difficult cancer, and Dr. Huggins book is the second book to point to the fact that heavy metals in dental materials used in children, which includes nickel and aluminum has been tied to Leukemia.

Here is the issue. Many people are having their immune systems challenged by mercury fillings, by toxins formed in root canal sealed teeth, which creates a deadly environment, and by being poisoned from heavy metals from crowns or other dental procedures. And they don't know this.

The only small thing missing from this book, is that our body can detoxify the heavy metals, when we are very healthy. So not everyone needs to remove all their mercury fillings. But, if you have a significant disease, like Alzheimers, or multiple sclerosis, the disease was caused or significantly contributed to by the dental materials poisoning your body daily. The title of the book is perfect. UNINFORMED CONSENT. Dental materials were put into our mouths, that are not good for us. This is dreadfully wrong and completely ignorant for dentists to do.

This book focuses in more detail on the issue of dental induced toxicity. The book is well written and an absolute must for anyone suffering from any vague, unresponsive illness. This book also sends shock-waves through the standard medical dogma of what constitutes "incurables," in that case after case of serious medical diseases were reversed after removing mercury amalgams from patient's mouths. The book is co-written by a physician, who's own health benefits were revealed after he underwent dental detox. His account will amaze the nay-sayers and awaken the nearly dead from mercury toxicity. I am a suffering, long-term toxic reader, and I saw myself in every painful agonizing detail of mercury's wretched effect on once healthy tissue. I have undergone surgery because of its twisted devastating blows, and am certain the grim reaper was riding mercury's coattails. Even if you don't believe that you're being bombarded with deadly poison while reclining in the dentist's chair, read the book. You may save the life of someone you love, maybe even yourself.
