I had many of these performances on LP, and was pleased to be able to obtain them on CD. I especially like the Mozart, Brahms and Liszt organ music, the Handel, and the C.P.E. Bach. Although JSB is Karl Richter's forte, he was capable of excellent performances in a much wider variety of composers. The musicians from the "Leipzig School" played a lot of music of composers other than J.S. Bach, and it is good to hear Richter's recordings of some of them. To all of it, he brings his own brilliant and concise style. For lovers of Karl Richter and of Baroque and early Classical music, this album is a must-have.

I agree with the reviewer Larry. It's great to hear the variety of works on this CD. DG made a masterful selection of works for this box set.

Some of these recordings go back to Karl Richter's early days in Munich. Despite the age, the sound quality is uniformly great!

I enjoyed the souvenir booklet identifying all the tracks on each CD. It includes some photos of young (pre-war) Karl Richter and mature Karl Richter.

I recommend this box set to anyone who likes (or wonders if they may like) baroque music. Enjoy!

This set is a steal at a bargain price. It is filled with some of the most beautiful music one could hope to hear with major artists performing some amazing selections.

Maria Stader is my all-time favourite soprano and there is one full disc of her ethereal singing, especially in the Bach selections. I know that the leader of the heavenly choir was happy to see her arrive with her absolute perfect pitch to lead the soprano section. Her singing of the aria from "Elijah" is worth the entire set.

Richter was also one of my most admired conductors; his keyboard work in the Bach selections is admirable.

This set is a great bargain at any price but as with much great music this set will probably be available for only a short time. Hurry before it is gone.
