Product Description

We once considered ourselves to be at the center of the universe – now we know that we are just a small spec in a giant cosmos. This season, HISTORY® ventures outsides of our solar system in another epic exploration of the universe and its mysteries. With strikingly realistic computer re-creations, you'll feel like you've traveled to the edge of the unknown: visit strange and unfamiliar worlds in "Exoplanets," prepare for the worst in "Cosmic Collisions," and uncover the secrets of our own galaxy, "the Milky Way." And that's just the beginning- learn exactly what "Dark Matter" is and how it takes up 95% of the universe; take a front-row seat for the ultimate light show with "Supernovas;" and while most people have heard of black holes (which swallow all matter that they come in contact with), find out more about "White Holes"; which actually create matter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Sep 16 2009
By Lalande
Format:DVD
Season 1 was fair, I gave it 3 stars, particularly for the last episode. I expected a lot more from season 2. The bottom line is that:
1) Very redundant with season 1
2) Very redundant by itself
3) Still for teenagers
4) Why so many hollywood-type researchers? I guess to impress teenagers...
5) Overdramatization: what is the need to keep saying how deadly is the universe, how stars are killers just waiting to explode? And so on... ah to impress teenagers...
6) Is there anything else but gun and violence to compare the universe with? Ah right...teenagers again...
7) Aggravating computerized music that doesn't do justice to the beauty of the universe
8) Aggravating computerized animation and noise that is just unbearable to my non teenager brain
8) The narrator voice and tone...again, bad and bad
9) I will not finish the series and will not buy season 3.
10) From now on, I will stick to BBC and Frontline documentaries

I do not like to post negative comments, but as there were many 5 stars ([...]), I think it is important to hear a different perspective. I usually agree on the comments and assessment posted, but definitely not on that series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Second Season Feb 17 2009
Format:DVD
Too bad I can't give a half a point more for this as I saw the first season DVD's and completely enjoyed it. There is still some repetition, but it's a great series, and the visuals are amazing. Anyone can enjoy this and feel a lot brighter afterwards. It really is a great series.

4.0 out of 5 stars great show, enjoyed S2 a lot Feb 14 2011
Format:DVD
What a great show, I enjoyed S1 thoroughly and have been enjoying S2 and S3 on Blu-Ray.

Since the subject matters are completely different, I did not find it redundant at all.
I also find they did a great job of being complex enough but still enjoyable for the masses.

They covered lots of new areas and I am very glad I made the purchase.
To the 1 star reviews, truly ridiculous, no idea what you were expecting.

So glad I discovered The Universe.
