5.0 out of 5 stars Killer tunes! Dec 30 2003
Format:Audio CD
The Unraveling is an extremely impressive first effort from these punk rock veterans. Starting off with "Alive and Well" is a taste for what's to come: fast, talented, and catchy songs. Rise Against creates a beautiful blend of both melodic and hardcore punk, which will please fans of Strike Anywhere, 88 Fingers Louie, Pulley, and many more of the like. Almost every song is amazing, but other standout tracks: Six Ways 'Til Sunday, Reception Fades (my personal favorite), Sometimes Selling Out is Giving Up, and 1000 Good Intentions. The only dud in my opinion is Everchanging. I really cannot stand listening to it.
So if you are a hardcore kid, pick up this album. If you are a pop punk fan, pick up this album. If you like any form of punk rock, or just plain rock 'n roll, pick it up anyways. It will not disappoint you. Also, pick up Revolutions Per Minute, which is even better than The Unraveling. Trust me.

5.0 out of 5 stars hardcore punk with vocals like you've never heard Feb. 26 2003
Format:Audio CD
I heard 2 singles off of compilations by Rise Against and I knew that I had to buy their cd. Man, I was not disappointed. They only have one full-length (another out April 8th, I can't wait) and they are one of my very favorite bands. This is such a unique band, they can make hardcore harmonic. It's a thing of beauty. The singer, Tim, can go from screaming one second to singing with amazing tune and precision. Every single song is good, and the lyrics are some of the best in punk rock. They are thought-provoking and intelligent. I can't find a single flaw in this cd. I just saw them live last night (I've been waiting forever to see them) and they put on a fast and furious show which got the crowd into hysterics. Their cd will do the same. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars best debut album ever! Feb. 14 2003
By B
Format:Audio CD
Rise against has become my favorite band, this album is so addictive! Its also so much better than the other stuff coming out today, which is either really poppy sounding or really emo sounding. Rise against is just straight forward punk rock, with definite hardcore influences. I cant really say what makes this album so good, except that it reminds me of how i first got into punk and how good it sounded when i first heard it. The best songs are My life inside your heart, reception fades, and 1000 good intentions...but i can honestly say that every single song rocks! ohyeah and check em out live if you get the chance!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album can't say enough about it Dec 21 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is one of those ablums you can listen to for a long time and a long time to come. This band is GREAT!!! If your a fan of punk, rock, or hardcore or all three do yourself a favor and get this album. Its fast and hard but the melodies shine bright, the drumming is fast, guitars deffantly add to the music, and I can't say enough about the vocals. rise Agasinst does what I think many hardcore bands should do the vocals are up to the standards of the music, Its in tune and more than just screaming. I would recommend this album to anyone. If your like me the second I heard it I knew I had to buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars alive and well.. July 13 2003
Format:Audio CD
this is it. it is an amazing pummeling record from the very beginning, throwing the listener for a loop with the intro but then bringing you in to the captivating punk rock experience that is brand new and completely devout of all commercialism in todays good charlottes and new found glorys. this is the band that will define what music should sound like today just by listening. impressive it is but why are you reading listen to the samples im telling you. this is some of the best hardcore with intelligence any label has to offer.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Unraveling, well it is unraveling Aug. 16 2002
By Julian
Format:Audio CD
This is a great cd from Strung -Out to Thrice, these bands have accomplished the makings of this kind of music. When I heard Rise Against for the first time, i said I gotta have this CD. Although I have never heard any other cd's from Rise Against I think this type of music they are playing will make them succesful. Make sure to see them on tour with Strung-Out,they are a great band, with jamming guitar parts, awesome bass lines, drums beats that are too good, and excellent singing. Buy this CD and I hope you will like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars buy this album June 12 2001
Format:Audio CD
I listned to this album and I was entirely blown away. With the melodic basslines and precision guitar of 88 fingers louie, the incredible drumming from pinhead circus and the heartfelt lyrics of former baxter frontman, rise against carries on where 88 left off but add their own twist to it. (On a side note, people interested in this album may want to check out the new band from 88's frontman "the story so far")

5.0 out of 5 stars this cd is undescribable April 2 2002
Format:Audio CD
i cant even begin to describe how awsome this cd is. its hardcore punk but the melodies are clean as can be. another standout thing about this cd are the vocals. the major problem with many underground bands, any band for that matter, is that the vocals arent up to par. this cd though, is unbeatable. the vocals are clean and in key all the time. if you buy one cd, buy this one.
