I recommend this book for those with autism, parents, teachers, and professionals - this should be a best seller! Both authors, Temple and Sean, are very sympathetic to the needs of autistic people - they're on the spectrum too. They relate to the autistic reader with their personal stories, and analogies. They try to make sense of human behaviour and share moral ideas. I like it when they outline social rules and concepts with chapter summaries.
Temple takes the reader on a tour of her autistic mind- not unlike my own brain. She also provides lots of advice for parents, and professionals. There are some passages though where Temple seems to get over-heated, passionate, or maybe angry.
Sean, on the other hand, is more engaging and humorous when he writes. Some of his stories made me laugh aloud.
You will laugh aloud or cry when you read their stories. For a person with autism, these stories are very real-down to the heart.
You may not exactly agree with everything in this book, but it explains basic social concepts clearly, and in a fun way, of course!
