At first I didn't Know What to Think,,

and decided it would be a grower. Couldn't decide what it sounded like, other than to say, "Psychedelic Experimental Music". It is sufficiently new not to sound like anything I know. Though if pressed for likenesses I would put forth: Pink Floyd's long pieces and Ummagumma, early 90's shoegazer, Strawberry Fields Forever and Saxon Shore. Mostly it sounds new; noughties music, and along with the Saxon Shore, it comfortably fits amongst Kinski, Arcade Fire and Boards of Canada. I've played it about 6 times now, and I was right, it is growing on me as I become more familiar with it.It has a very warm summery feel, like summer break from school, hot, hazzy, colourful, buzzing, not a lot of conversation, but time to look at the bugs, buds, blades of grass, and swaying of the trees. It is alternative music, and it brings music forward into the future.

This album is a must-have for electronic music fans in my opinion. It's very original sounding for this type of genre and the hooks are fantastic. The best songs include "Kid You'll Move Mountains," and "I've Lived On A Dirt Road All My Life." Recommended for fans of Amon Tobin, Four Tet, Autechture, Boards of Canada and the like.

one of the best,

this is one of the best albums out there on the market. along with all the other releases by Caribou.but this album i enjoy because you can see the transition from Start Breaking My Heart to The Milk of Human Kindness. another album from Caribou where all the songs get stuck in my head and i love to sing along with the cd. its amazing. the way Dan Snaith uses layers and textures to build his music is so incredible. the vocals on I've Lived on a Dirt Road All My Life is simply so beautiful and amazing sometimes i wonder how he came up with it. love it. love this album. and the videos are awesome 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

Excelent work by Manitoba/Caribou,

There is no doubt that Manitoba/Caribou is one of the most virtuous indie-electronic musicians in North America. This is a good sample of his work, combining and manipulating nice melodies and sounds together with excellent percussions.
