4.0 out of 5 stars Where's the Encore??? Aug 23 2007
Format:Audio CD
Uriah Heep "Live", was recorded during the bands, January 1973, British tour. Here is the original lineup, with the bands "Best" songs as to that date. Considering the recording is over 30 years old, the material holds up quite well. Kudos to the powers to be, for making the transition to digital, sound quite good. I owned this release on vinyl, way back when, and I played it to death. I was pleased to see it had been released on CD. I gave this release 4/5 stars for the simple reason the encore (Rock & Roll medley) is missing, (otherwise it would have received 5 stars). Initially I thought it might have been a time issue, but this CD clocks in at around 70 minutes. The Rock & Roll Medley is around 8 minutes in length, plenty of time available for a standard CD these days. All in all, this is one of my favourite "Live" concerts, ever caught on tape. If your a Uriah Heep fan, or if your a fan of early 70's hard rock bands, I highly recommend this CD. I was able years ago, to find a Uriah Heep CD titled, "Collection", which contained the missing encore (Rock & Roll Medley). If you can find that release, I suggest you buy it for the encore medley alone. Enjoy....

Uriah Heep signed his name for the mytholgy rock. The whole ensemble worked out to dyonisiac levels.
In the ancient sixties , a legendary band , Vanilla Fudge introduced innovative concepts in the rock. And it's not dangerous establish the heavy rock sound was born with this band. Uriah Heep hold this conceptual approach that in certain ways was forgotten in those years.
Uriah Heep developed a difficult but instead worthy effort , which meant mix hard rock sound with long phrases. that clever device allows you to whistle and remind the locus of the theme in your mind. This smart device carried to this legendary recital in July 1973.
And it's a pitty for all we weren't lucky viewers of that unforgettable session, it seems, that there were no video recordings in this opportunity, but at least the sound is available in a well made transfer.
July morning became in a cult theme for a whole young generation in that time.
Sweet Lorraine sound is OK, but Gipsy queen and Look at yourself are extraordinary pieces, filled with that special wildness demanded in the deep of all immortal rock piece. Watch for Born to be wild, Paranoid or Stargazer for instance.
This is an album that became from its release in a must reference for the rock memories.
A landmark in the rock culture.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Essential Uriah Heep Release Mar 29 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is the one! Weather you are a casual Heep fan or a hardcore heepster, Once you have heard the studio albums that came before, the power and polish that only touring experience will give a band is all evident here. I have loved this record since I purchased my vinyl copy in 1974 and I enjoy it as much today as then. In my opinion the only other Heep release that is as strong an effort is Sweet Freedom, being a studio release its kind of a different animal but is a great piece of work. Both of these also feature what I feel was the best Heep line up of ALL ! Byron,Box,Hensley,Kerslake and Thain!!!

I'll keep this short and right to the point - The band sounds sloppy on this disc. None of the songs are better than their studio counterparts, and in many cases are worst. Read more
