The description reads, "designed specifically for both the AG-HMC70 and AG-HMC40 AVCCAM HD camcorders" and I have the AG-HMC40. It is no such thing. I opened the package and inserted the battery and got a message it was the wrong battery. On checking the battery that came with the camera and the replacement I noticed one very telling difference. The original battery is 7.2v and the replacement is 7.4v. Also, on the package for the replacement it says, "Please note that the battery life display on the camera will not function with the ... replacement". To it's credit, the package doesn't mention that it is for the HMC-40. It lists Panasonic HDc-SD9/HS9/SX5/DX1. But to it's discredit, it says it's a replacement for the VBG-260 which is what my original camera battery says it is. One more "Made in China" ripoff
