Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Valentine's Day/ La Saint-Valentin (DVD)
This is a verified purchase review. The movie is excellent entertainment, and all involved rose to the occasion and presented the buying public with a memorable storyline. Julia Roberts is my favorite actress and gives a good-to-excellent performance overall. The other character actors are also amazing.

a who's who of Hollywood,

Gary Marshall must have some dirt on everyone in Hollywood as he has EVERYONE in this cast of tens movie. Of course, his good luck charm in Hector Elizondo is here and Julie Roberts, too (no sign of Richard Gere though or we'd have Pretty Woman's Valentine's Day).Anyway, it's a delightful sort of American version of the British hit Love Actually. Not the same story but the same sort of premise where unrequited love gets requited. The pairing of Ashton Kutcher and George Lopez as coworkers at a flower shop was actually very promising for a future road movie with those two. I'm just saying... There's really something for everyone in this from the woman who hates Valentine's Day (Jessica Biel) to the surprising "gay" twist that is kept quiet until the final scenes. Sadly, Jessica Alba still can't act her way out of bag of hammers and she plays a crucial girlfriend role to Kutcher. The big surprise (and i"m giving nothing away as you learn this in her first scene) in this is the casting out of character of Anne Hathaway who moonlights as a role playing phone sex woman to pay her bills. DVD is not worth getting as it has zero extras, but it is worth a rental especially if your partner's in the mood for a chick flick with enough guy moments to make it worthwhile for guys.
