4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful strategies for employers with a newly diverse workforce, Jun 5 2008

This review is from: Valuing Diversity: New Tools for a New Reality (Hardcover)
A workbook, a guide, a list of resources, a treasure trove of inspirational vignettes, this is the book for managers needing a little support in working with the rapidly changing workforce. For those managers, three components of the book stand out. There are resources for assessing one's personal commitment, and for finding the courage to lead more effectively. There are practical guidelines for developing effective teams in a diverse workplace. And, at the core of the book, there are thoughtful pieces on how to build, and why to build, meaningful realtionships among people of vastly differing backgrounds. Some of the concepts and references may be a bit daunting, but the models, case studies, and interview excerpts are extremely applicable, and readily understood by anyone familiar with this contemporary challenge, and needing some assistance with it.
