Product Description

From Library Journal

Ex-policewoman-turned-fledgling vampire Victory Nelson returns to Toronto to defend her "beat" in Tanya Huff's "This Town Ain't Big Enough," the highlight in this collection of 19 tales featuring vampires as both hunters and hunted. Ranging from Kathe Koja and Barry Malzberg's tale of macabre vengeance ("Girl's Night Out") to Gary Alan Ruse's story of an uneasy alliance between a priest and a problem-solving vampire ("Night Tidings"), these stories provide a welcome diversion for both mystery lovers and fans of the living dead.

Ingram

Nineteen vampire tales include the story of a Toronto vampire detective who is pitted against one of her own kind, a Hollywood private eye who finds a script becoming dangerously real, and a cop on the trail of a bloodthirsty killer. Original.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wide range of stories, Nov 26 1999
By
This review is from: Vampire Detectives (Mass Market Paperback)
The book has a good variety of stories and naturally some are better than others, but most are excellent.

This was the first time I had ever read any of Tanya Huff's vampire work -- and it got me hooked enough to but the entire 'Blood' series.

The book is a good enjoyble read.

I am a great fan of Greenberg and was in heaven when I saw this one. He has gathered together some of the best names out there. The stories are varied in settings and types of vampires. Each and every story is tightly written, well told, and in some cases, had me rolling on the floor with laughter. Mind you, they aren't all funny. Some will send some major chills up and down your spine so you might want to keep a light on. All in all, a great read. I highly recommend this to all.

If you are looking for vampire stories with a twist than this anthology is for you. If you are an Anne Rice fan, you may not like this book.
