Book Description

May 1 2010
The current popularity of vampires is based on the fact that women find them hot. This straightforward and sexy guide will give women the information to meet and seduce their own vampire lovers. This is a guide to dating a vampire which takes a fun and dangerously sexy 'True Blood' approach to the subject rather than the tween-focused 'Twilight' version.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book almost convinced me that Vampires are Real! Jun 22 2010

When I first picked up the book " Vampires Don't Sleep Alone," I thought that maybe it would be just a fun quick read to pass the time and that I would just treat it like any other summer beach book. Wow. I was so wrong. As soon as I read the first chapter I couldn't put the book down!
The book is written in a nonfiction format. It tells the reader exactly how he/she can obtain a Vampire lover. The authors definitely did their historical research on the creature of the night. They used direct references from different recorded historical events that have shown that vampires existed. There are even quite a few references from The Bible! With so many references I actually began to believe that I could find my own Vampire, If you are a lover of anything that has to do with the undead you need to buy this book. I have read it three times already and the book has passed through all of my friends. Maybe we will all get in our favorite vampire gear and hit the town and try to find our own creature of the night!

1.0 out of 5 stars Just Not Something I Enjoyed Sep 18 2010
By R. Armstrong - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I managed to get just over halfway through this book before I just couldn't stand the misogyny anymore. If you remove all references to vampires, it reads like a Seventeen magazine's dating guide, complete with all the 'ladies, it's your responsibility to look nice, say the right things, and impress him!'. The book is solely focused on a female human tracking down, meeting, seducing, and offering herself to a male vampire. You could replace the word 'vampire' wherever it appears with the words 'jerk' and the advice would be just as sound.

Yes, I understand it's a work of fiction (and a parody at that), but in a "Twilight" obsessed world, we do not need a book on how to be Bella Swan. Even when my choice of entertainment mocks something, I do expect it to be entertaining mockery, and I just didn't find this either entertaining or a particularly good parody of a dating book.

And don't get me started on the White Wolf rip off on the types of vampires that just had to be randomly shoved in there. I mean, once you pass that chapter, the types of vampires become interchangeable, never again revisiting the fact that all these vampire types (Clans for White Wolf RPers) would probably require different seduction methods.

On the whole, not a book I recommend. Your mileage may vary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent, witty and thoroughly entertaining May 27 2011

As someone who has read a plethora of vampire books, both serious and silly, I obviously consider myself a 'fan' of the genre. From the very first chapter, this book had me sucked in and truly laughing out loud.

The authors are obviously well read and educated on vampire mythos and cultural history. For readers that are new to the genre, there will be plenty of tidbits in here that will both educate you and point you toward educational materials to seek out. For readers that are well-seasoned in exploring the vampire mythos, they'll find several witty and well placed references and anecdotes that will inspire a chuckle or a thoughtful "well played!".

For anyone looking for a fun and interesting read, I highly recommend this book. It's very well written, beautifully tongue-in-cheek and just enjoyable all around.

Listmania!
