I went to see the Canadian priemere of Vampiro at the Canadian Film Institute and was blown away by the film - no wonder it won the Best Editing award at the Monterrey International Film Festival!

The documentary provides an intimate look into Vampiro's life - merging in the present and past, showing us where he came from. My initial impression before I saw the movie was that Ian Hodgkinson (Vampiro) was purely an agressive wrestler, but that was before I saw the man behind Vampiro. Never once during the documentary was I aware of how much time had passed, so engrossed in it was I.

I'm not sure who Robert is, but the interviews I've seen with Ian have shown him to be enthusiastic about the movie - and that he was fully consulted with the movie and his feedback incorporated.

If you are a fan of wrestling then this is a must see. It covers the true life story of Vampiro from his beginnings in Northern Ontario to his success as a star of Mexican wrestling. If you want to see what being a wrestler in Europe and Mexico is really like then this movie nails it. The stuff this guy has been through is incredible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wrestling Fans Will Love This May 26 2009

I just got my copy and REALLY enjoyed it. I thought Ian's family & friends seemed genuine; he seemed vulnerable (and understandly so).

His daughter is adorable; his love for her so obvious in this film. Good for Ian; Great for Dasha!

Not sure which was better - the given ending or the alternate ending.

Music score is excellent. Be sure to watch all of the "extra features" they'll add to your enjoyment.

Bob Barnett is right that it could have gone way deeper, but I think fans will be satisfied with it. It would have been nice to see more of his recent work in the Guardian Angels-Mexico.

May God bless Ian Hodgkinson and his family. Thank you for sharing this part of yourself with us.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk April 28 2009
I am Vampiro's attorney and long time friend.
This movie is just nothing, revolving around a lame plotline of a failed lucha show Vamp was organizing.
It could have been so much more. But they refused to allow his input.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love or Hate Him, He's One of The Best Sept. 5 2013

This documentary is very traditional, it makes you think about pro wrestling in a different way. There is a lot of in-ring performer documentaries but this takes the cake. Considering he is one of my favorites of all time, Vampiro has had very big highs and lows in his life and it shows a lot in this film. Whether it be his history in Mexico(AT THE TOP) or him being considered a bottom feeder in wcw. It shows how one man can over come so much with being a pro wrestler, a family man, or a fan of music and sometimes life itself. What makes a man? ANGEL, DEVIL, OR HERO?

The movie itself was amazing. I have always considered myself a Vampiro superfan but a lot of the information that was on this dvd I wasn't aware of at all. I think that it is a must have for all of Vampiro's fans and even if you are just a wrestling fan in general. This is a no holds barred in depth look at the life of wrestler day to day without all the glitz and glamor that you see on tv. The dvd was in perfect condition still in shrink wrap with the bar code sticker intact. I would definitely buy from this seller again.
