Product Description

From their eponymous 1978 debut through their colossal 1984 album (they've sold over 75 million albums worldwide), Van Halen rewrote all the rules. Nobody rockedor partiedharder. Photographer Neil Zlozower first met the band in 1978, worked with them again on'Van Halen II' , and soon became their friend, hanging out in L.A. and hitting the road on tour with them.'Van Halen' collects more than 250 backstage, candid, and full rock-out photos of the all-powerful, spandexed, high-kicking, guitar blazing, stadium-shaking, original Van Halen lineup. Accompanying Zlozower's amazing photos are an introduction about his wild ride with VH, a foreword by David Lee Roth, and testimony from the rock pantheon paying homage to the band, including members of Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, KISS, Motley Cre, and more. Turn it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Visual Document Of The Roth Years, Nov 20 2007
By
carlos vala jr (toronto, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Van Halen: A Visual History (Hardcover)
If you are a Van Halen fan and more importantly a fan of the band when David Lee Roth was lead singer, then this is the book for you. I'll even go so far to say that even if you are not a fan of Van Halen but are into "rock photography" this is the book for you. Neil Zlozower became good friends with all members of the band, that he gained access to all areas that other photographers only dreamed of, and because of that we get great and i mean great shots of the band on stage, backstage, in the studio and out on the street. The book covers the first tour to the 1984 album tour, so if you are a fan of the Sammy Hargar years this isn't for you. This is a book that shows a raw hard rocking Van Halen at it's peak, when they could lay claim to being the best American rock band. Buy the book and look at the photos from 1980 to 1983. That is what rock and roll is all about and sadly is missing today. The photos are mostly in colour with some black and white. All photos are in focus, expertly photographed, no blurred or grainy shots. This is one beautiful book, that took me back to a beautiful time in hard rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ONE & ONLY REAL VAN HALEN!!!, Nov 13 2007

Sure, I enjoyed Van Hagar and even some Van Cherone, but nothing ever touched the glory of the MIGHTY VAN HALEN. Van Halen was simply never again as interesting musically or visually after 1984. This book captures Van Halen in all their glory, at their very best and most influencial. The text is icing to this delicious cake. Every picture tells a story indeed. Finally, a quality coffee table book to illustrate the greatest American hard rock band of all time, Cheap Trick being my close second.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!......, Nov 27 2007
By JAMES P MORRISON - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Van Halen: A Visual History (Hardcover)
This is THE book for any VH fan. Great photo's (I do wish that each photo at least had a caption of where it was taken) and cool memories from some of rocks biggest names. The best coffee table book I own, and it will stay on my coffee table for a long time. Great conversation piece. You watch them transform from virtually little kids at the beginning and by the time you are near the end of the book, they are truly rock monsters.
I particulary loved the photo's on pg 48, 96-97 (that pic says it all) and a really odd but cool one on page 197. Pick this book up now, it is a must have!
