Not very good. Disappointing., April 14 2010
This review is from: Various a Concert By the Lake [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
The least known artists, Katie Melua, is the highlight of this video. The other artists, Eric Clapton, Procol Harum, Ringo Star are not sharp, out of tune and out of practice, resting on their laurels.

A Floater in the Lake, Mar 18 2010

First, this is not an Eric Clapton DVD he only plays 3 songs, and is only lack luster at best. Most of it is Radio POP songs (long faded and forgotten) done by the other individuals off their solo albums and is not my type of music at all. Video is a little fuzzy and the Audio is only fair as far as Blu-ray should be. This is also an old recording at least 10 years or older, back when EC had long hair. There is no recording date any where on the cover or disc. Too bad, these are big name artists that don't really meld their styles together very well in my opinion. I can think of many other standard DVDs that should be on Blu-ray other than this dull and boring performance by all. The only highlight I found was end of the disc. I wish Amazon had a 3 criteria rating that would make for a quicker, more accurate and fair rating of Cd's, DVDs and Blu-ray's. 1. Performance 2. Quality of Audio 3. Quality of Video (for DVDs and Blu-ray's) 1.** 2.*** 3.*** Artists that wish to have there performances recorded and recognized should be held to a standard. Poor Audio or Video, no matter how good the performance, is still a bad product. Those who would still purchase sub-standard Audio or Video quality recordings and rank that product highly just because of performance are not doing the industry or the band justice. Demand better and we will get it, settle for less and that's what you'll get.

Overall sound adequate but sound was disappointing. Although several older stars performed many of the songs performed by the non recording artist were very poor.

I only bought this Blu Ray cause of Eric Clapton having seen him live in concert and have a large collection of CD's & DVD's even Vinyl but wasn't sure about the rest till saw Concert By The Lake with British rock & pop legends with a good clear picture and sound , filmed at the Historic Wintershall State in Surrey England 2006 Singing and playing classics I grew up listening to : Tequila , Over My Shoulder (Feat Paul Carrack), Reconsider Baby & Lay Down Sally (Feat Eric Clapton) , How Long (Feat Paul Carrack) , Willie & The Hand Jive (Feat Eric Clapton) , Crawling Up A Hill & My Aphrodisiac is You & The Closest Thing To Crazy (Feat Katie Melua) , Lay Me Burden Down (Feat Andy Fairweather Low) , Say It's Not True & These Are The Days Of Our Lives & I Want To Break Free (Feat Roger Taylor) , This World is Rich (Feat Gary Brooker), Act Naturally & Photograph & With A Little Help From My Friends (Feat Ringo Star), A Whiter Shade Of Pale (Feat Gary Brooker), Stormy Monday (Feat Eric Clapton & Chris Barber), Under The Boardwalk & Stand By Me (Feat The Drifters) , Cocaine (Feat Eric Clapton) and to close the Concert : I Can't Dance (Feat Everyone), This is Not an Eric Clapton Concert is a charity concert and for some reason this Blu Ray sounded even better on the second play as I was having a few beers in good company at the time and now after having seen A Concert by the Lake a few times tend to agree with the Reviewer up ^^^ there to a point and Eric Clapton plays 5 Songs counting Stormy Monday with Chris Barber not 3 and now think he kinda made Concert by the Lake worth viewing and after reading some reviews I thought ok might of overrated this Blu Ray Concert , than again depends on personal taste ... not a bad show 4/5 .
