5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Chrismas movies there is. June 19 1999

I really liked A Very Brady Christmas, and have since I first saw it. I know when I have kids, it'll be a staple at Christmastime. It already is for me, my mom, and my sister. I have a copy, and have almost worn it out. Even though, it is kinda cheesy, I really do like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A new Christmas tradition... Dec 21 1999
By ZTT Fan

Most people reading this are probably already familiar with this 1988 TV movie (that spawned the short-lived "dramedy" "The Bradys.")
The thing is, while this program was played ad nauseum on TV during the past ten holiday seasons, it was pretty much nowhere to be found during 1999, necessitating the purchase of a copy.
In short, I know "A Very Brady Christmas" has become required viewing during MY Christmas season, and if you liked The Brady Bunch at all, it will likely become part of yours as well.

I think any person over the age of 35 has memories of racing home from school to watch the reruns of popular series like "Gilligan's Island", and "The Brady Bunch". Like them or hate them these series bring back many fond memories for this viewer and they were both the brain child of veteran producer Sherwood Schwartz. It was then a very special occasion when the cast of "The Brady Bunch", reunited in 1988 for this Christmas TV Movie that brought all of us viewers, who had literally grown up with the Brady's and their loyal maid Alice, up to date with the families happenings. Certainly fans around the world had been waiting for the return of their favourite family for some time and the TV Movie "A Very Brady Christmas", was a huge success earning CBS its highest rating for the year.
Most people are by now very familiar with the Brady's so there is no need to outline here who they are but the movie brought back the characters 14 years after the original series had ended so naturally there had been alot of changes with some of the original characters. The story of "A Very Brady Christmas", begins with Mike and Carol (Robert Reed and Florence Henderson), each planning to surprise the other with a trip overseas at Christmas now that all the children are away from home. When both discover the others identical plans they decide instead that the best gift of all for the coming holidays would be to instead use the money to bring all their children and their families home for an old fashioned Christmas. In the middle of their plans they suddenly find Alice (the much loved Anne B. Davis) on their doorstep announcing that Sam has left her for a younger woman.

Carol Brady saves Christmas (again) with her stirring rendition of "Oh Come All Ye Faithful," complete with scenes from the original Christmas episode. That montage alone is worth the 5 stars. Best Christmas movie--EVER! Wishing it was on DVD!

3.0 out of 5 stars I Wish it Was on DVD! Dec 10 2003
Format:VHS Tape
I'm a big fan of The Brady Bunch, I was 4 years old when the sitcom had it's first network run and I grew up watching the reruns on a local station that played reruns of classic TV shows and when TV movie reunions were made I watched them and liked them even though they were a little on the corny side and I liked A Very Brady Christmas. The plot is predictable and can be corny at times but it's enjoyable and it was great to see the original cast, well most of the original cast because Cindy Brady is played by Jennifer Runyon from (Charles in Charge) who replaced Susan Olsen who was unavailable to be in this movie when they were filming it but she was back playing Cindy in the next TV movie and the short lived TV show that followed. This movie despite not having the original Cindy was actually good and I recommend it and hope they put it on DVD. In this movie the Brady's finally redecorate and modernize their house and Mike and Carol are planning on going on a vacation for Christmas only to decide to have a family Christmas instead but the kids come home for Christmas with their problems. Marsha's husband Wally loses his job. Jan and her husband Phillip are having marital problems and thinking of divorcing. Cindy wants to go on a sky trip with her college roomates and is unhappy because she thinks her family still treats her like a child. Greg upsets his wife for deciding to spend Christmas again with his family instead of hers. Peter is having a relationship with his female boss and she just doesn't fit in well with the Brady family. Bobby drops out of college to become a professional race car driver. Alice comes back to live with the Brady's after Sam leaves her for a younger woman, etc. I rate this movie 3 stars but I really think it should be 3 1/2 stars and I wish the movie would be put on DVD! The reason I don't give this movie a higher rating is that even though the actress who played Cindy gave a decent performance it would have been better with Susan Olsen playing her.

Kind of cheesy. Kind of hokey. Kind of corny. These are words that can be used to describe THE BRADY BUNCH. Yes, the show is the epitomy of cheesy. But I love it. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars For fans of the TV show
This has the feel of the TV show because the same writers from the original show did this.
It was a little too WHITE though [Mr Brady's hair; the interior of the house].
