Kermit takes center stage in this hilarious, parody-laden celebration of Muppetry, pulsating with original music, a star-studded cast of human cameos, and a heartwarming story reminiscent of "It's a Wonderful Life." Joan Cusack plays the deliciously villainous Miss Bitterman, a ruthless banker who succeeds in foreclosing on the Muppet Theatre only days before Kermit's Christmas extravaganza. As Kermit loses his livelihood, he plunges into the "I wish I'd never been born" mind-set instantly recognizable to George Bailey fans. It's going to take some Divine intervention (Whoopi Goldberg is cast as God, no less), plus a little help from a heavenly "Clarence." Despite some moments where the script seems adrift (how hard it must be to live up to the irresistible precedent set by the 1979 premier Muppet Movie) and some humor that borders on risqué, Fozzie and the gang are in fine form. I didn't find it offensive like a lot of reviewers did but this movie was pretty boring and choppy. It really wasn't funny either, I missed the muppet humor. Then again I don't know how much humor the muppets could inject into it's a wonderful life. What humor there was was very slapstick, not the wit your used to with the muppets. I expect some inuendo from the muppets but this was a little too obvious-scooter was cage dancing in leather stripper shorts at a night club. The second half of the movie was better then the first so give it a full try to see if it's your cup of tea. It does turn into a heart warming tale but I would stick to A muppet christmas carol. Maybe if they had done it more along those lines it would have been better. Also, Joan Cusack was awful as a villian, it makes me sad to say so because I like her.

The movie wasn't spectacular, but it was passable Christmas Muppet fair. However, the reviewer who was offended by the Propecia joke is even more stupid than the film was. Propecia is a hair loss medicine NOT a prostate medicine... I repeat... NOT a prostate medicine. God Lord, when you shut off that movie after 30 minutes did your children hit you over the head with your DVD Player? Yours is one of the most dim-witted reviews I've read in some time. It's not fine art but it's certainly NOT offensive! I'd let my kids watch it any time they pleased.

I love the Muppets and used to watch The Muppet Show each time it was on, so I was thrilled to hear about another Muppet movie. I thought that the Muppet Christmas Carol was great, and I was looking for more like-minded entertainment. This was not it. The comic insult dog does not belong in a Muppet special. Nor does a scene that's a parody of Moulin Rouge (complete with Piggy saying "Will you sleep with me tonight?" to Kermit in French). I was greatly disappointed by this movie. Stick with the old classics -- this one is not one of them.
