Book Description

April 29 2004

For millions of men on the path to recovery, Victims No Longer is the next step.

The first book written specifically for men, Victims No Longer examines the changing cultural attitudes toward male survivors of incest and other sexual trauma. Now, in this Second Edition, this invaluable resource continues to offer compassionate and practical advice, supported by personal anecdotes and statements of male survivors. Victims No Longer helps survivors to:

  • Identify and validate their childhood experiences
  • Explore strategies of survival and healing
  • Work through issues such as trust, intimacy, and sexual confusion
  • Establish a support network for continued personal recovery
  • Make choices that aren't determined by abuse

Psychotherapist Mike Lew has worked with thousands of men and women in their healing from the effects of childhood sexual abuse, rape, physical violence, emotional abuse, and neglect. The development of strategies for recovery from incest and other abuse, particularly for men, has been a major focus of his work as a counselor and group leader.

Thoroughly updated and revised, and including an expanded Resources section, Victims No Longer educates survivors and professionals about the recovery process -- speaking to the pain, needs, fears, and hopes of the adult male survivor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reclaim your life Mar 8 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is an incredible read for any male survivor of abuse. If you are looking for relief from the endless tourment of an emotionally bankrupt soul after suffering abuse, this book is for you. It is a very well written book which helps male survivors in their recovery process. You deserve better than the life you were left with after suffering abuse. This book will help you on your journey to reclaiming and healing your soul. It is written in a fashion that you can read what you are capable of, then come back again when you are ready. Lots of helpful exercises to work through the horrors of the betrayal you suffered. A notable thanks to the author for writing this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Living With Abuse Feb 13 2012
Format:Paperback
As a person who was sexually abused in my youth, this book provides some powerful stories and affirmation. The major point is that we are not alone. Many of us believe we are alone in our journey carrying the burden of shame and distrust that perpetrators tend to put upon us. But this book notes that this is typical of perpetrators and we needlessly live our lives in self-inflicted solitude believing that society will (as it has in the past) shame us and lay the mantle of stigma upon us. Over the years this may turn into depression and forms of mental illness. This book helps the victim break out of the feeling of shame and step boldly onto the road to recovery. An excellent book that every male victim and his family should read.
