5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book on ADHD Mar 16 2011
By TJ Chambers - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
VICTORY OVER ADHD: a holistic approach for helping children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

I'm an adult with ADHD and I have been researching the disorder for many years. I have compiled much of the information at my website adhdawareness.com. I get authors that send me their materials and it sits on the shelf until I decide to read it.

Deborah sent me her book, Victory Over ADHD and to me, it was just another one of those books I didn't want to read. It sat on the shelf for 6 months. One day I decided to start reading it.

I was amazed that it had additional information that I didn't even know about to help ADHD even though I have been researching this for years.

The first 2 chapters of this book, she takes you on her journey. Its a good story and many mothers will find that they have been on similar journeys. Some will even find answers to their children's various ailments that they were not expecting. I know this because I had many of the ailments when I was a baby and child and I know many still have the same today.

There are articles by other authors that reveal insight into the various aspects of ADHD. ADHD is not a disease. You can't take a pill and make it go away. ADHD is a disorder, that means your body acts out of order. What is making it out of order? It could be a lot of different things or just 1. It could be from an accident that damaged the brain, bad foods put into the body, sugar, other deficiencies, or other things.

So all the information in the book introduces you to the various means that could be the answer that you are seeking.

This is one of the best books on ADHD and I recommend all my visitors to read this first, before reading any other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable and relevant Mar 17 2011
By Marlene C. Suliteanu - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I offer this book to client-families because (1) the author's personal experience validates willgness to seek more than conventional medical advice when problems persist and (2) she enlists expertise from multiple perspectives. The book's entire second section consists of chapters detailing alternatives to consider. It happens that one of those chapters is about the therapy practice I offer, namely the Holistic Approach to NeuroDevelopment and Learning Efficiency (HANDLE), but that's not what I refer client-families to. They get all about that from me. I refer them to the nutritional and environmental factors everyone ought to weigh carefully -- and do something about. THANK YOU, Deborah Merlin, for this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Authentic exploration of holistic healing for ADHD Nov 17 2012
By Jed Shlackman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book provides a somewhat unique look at the multifaceted challenges of ADHD and related neurological patterns. It presents the author's personal story of herself and her children, along with the experiences of others and insights from several professionals who contribute information about factors that can foster ADHD and methods that can bring balance and health.

The book examines a range of therapies, including nutrition, heavy metal detox, dietary changes, homeopathy, chiropractic, energy psychology, brain gym, and oriental medicine. It also exposes the many hazards that can contribute to the ADHD conditions, such as pregnancy and birth problems, allergies, immune issues, vaccines, pesticides, food additives, food intolerances, emotional stresses, and artificial electromagnetic fields.

A key point in the book is that allopathic medications used for ADHD don't treat anything that's actually causing the problems, and they can aggravate the issues or cause other problems. The author is certain that seeking natural alternatives provided a much better outcome for her family than would occur for individuals who remain stuck in a conventional medicine paradigm. That has been my observation with ADHD as well - understanding the multiple levels of factors that foster ADHD symptoms and then taking steps to heal those issues leads to excellent results.

As Deborah Merlin and her collaborators discovered, most medical doctors are programmed to rely on drugs to treat symptoms - not to find or address the causes. If you wish to address ADHD in a healthy way it is essential to apply this holistic approach and reject the viewpoint of miseducated physicians. I congratulate Merlin for sharing her personal story and enlisting others with experience treating ADHD naturally to enlighten the public about ways of overcoming challenges associated with ADHD.
