HASH(0x9a548da4) out of 5 stars Essential B-sides Oct. 28 2013

"Victrola" was one of the later singles from Veruca Salt's 1994 "American Thighs" album, as I'm sure you know. You already have that song, so you don't need another copy. However, this CD single also includes two very important Veruca Salt B-sides which as far as I know were never available elsewhere. First is their absolutely excellent cover of "My Sharona." It's a superb instrumental performance, but also features some great singing by Nina Gordon and Louise Post. "Sundown" is a mid-tempo rocker that builds to a rousing climax. Both are extremely worthwhile for Veruca Salt fans.
