5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Historical Saga Mar 9 2011
By Sophie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I love historical fiction and this one's got it all. Huge battles, Princesses to rescue and a touch of magic and mysticism. The historical detail is meticulous, I would guess that Mr Scrivener is an historian as this has a degree of authenticity missing from most books of this type.

Elements of Romeo and Juliet coupled together with Merlin and mixed with Bernard Cornwell grandeur create a fantastic read. Thoroughly enjoyable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Viking Sword, Saxon Shield May 23 2011
By Mebsi the gardener - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
As a woman I don't usually read books advertised as historical thrillers. However female friends all loved this novel then recommended it to me. I agree with them, this is an exceptionally interesting fast moving all action read and I just couldn't put it down. In fact it could also be described as historical romance. The main characters Eddie and Kate are likeable and the peripheral characters well conceived and essential to the plot. The story line includes historical battles and intrigue, which are dramatic in the extreme. However these are described sensitively without too much deliberately sensationalized brutality that many masculine writers of this genre get bogged down in. I found myself believing it was true; in fact it's so realistic it should be made into a romantic adventure film. I hope the author follows this up with sequels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good historical adventure thriller Mar 16 2011
By Dave in the Doghouse - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
What a fabulous novel, it breathes energy; life and excitement from page one to the last. It is truly excellent, with unexpected integrated plots and mind-blowing adventures. Based on research it has everything a historical thriller needs. Scrivener has an instinct for dramatising history; he's a master of engaging reader's emotions. This novel has it all, high adventure, romance and unrivalled battle scenes, loathsome enemies `some supposedly allies.' it is the ultimate adventure thriller. Scrivener will rank as one of the greatest storytellers; he really has historical fiction nailed down. The pace is relentless; it is a must read, I recommend this novel to all readers!
